The latest person to take on the role of Watford head coach, Valérien Ismaël. Born in France, but has received German citizenship. He has had spells with Barnsley and WBA, so he does know something about English football.

Gareth Ainsworth seems to develop a cult following when he has moved from one club to another. At least if football fails him, he can move on to his second job as frontman for his band, Cold Blooded Hearts.

    Summer ins / outs

Watford have seen a big change in personal, with fifteen players, plus academy youngsters depart, with seven coming in.

QPR have seen twelve players moving on, with six joining them.

To date, Watford fans have been very short of information about who is likely to start this game, or even get a close up from the extended benches. Team News therefore can be added by the eagled eye as and when anything shows up.

    Our Officials

Premier League official Tom Bramall has been appointed to referee the Championship opener against Queens Park Rangers at Vicarage Road.

Bramall is due to be assisted by Akil Howson and Hristo Karaivanov, with Oliver Langford on fourth official duties.

An early litmus test, especially given the toxicity that was particularly in evidence at the Bush!

I have no idea what to expect! I'm interested to see what formation we play, who appears to be first choice (for now) and the attitude of the players. In particular, is there any sense of team?

Probably be something like this :

    Bachmann

    Andrews
    Hoedt
    Porteous
    Lewis

    Livermore/Sierralta
    Louza
    Kayembe

    Martins
    Bayo
    Sema

Lacking quality in theory compared to last year but maybe they will show more in terms of commitment and desire .

Staggered we've held on to Louza, but perhaps I shouldn't voice that? :bandit:

Prepping today due to forecast tomorrow! Heading into my 8th full season as Grounds Manager and we’ve pushed the boundaries every year. 100% grass coverage, 19mm height of cut and crisp white lines! Scott

Probably the longest serving employee at the club!

Obviously does more than enough to impress the powers that be and rightly so.

Good job there isn't a transfer market for groundsmen. He would have been sold for a very large sum.

Probably due to his long term injury last season and contract whereas Sarr had one year left .

Seems settled here and I thought did well even at the end of the season trying hard and scoring the odd goal .

Doesn’t seem to be “hated” by the mob of fans we have like others have been and are so must be doing ok.

I mean we cannot sell every attacking skilful player we have..,

No surprises, bar maybe the bench.

I thought Lewis and Andrews might play tbh.

Interesting it’s TDB rather than Kone.

Perhaps unsurprisingly there's plenty of abuse on Twitter over the team selections - a lot aimed at Ngakia and Morris.

I really don't know why they bother 'supporting' the club - none of them are ever going to be in a position to pick the team or see what goes on on the training pitch.

Afternoon all, here we go again.....
Why the antipathy to Morris? I agree if you are supporter you take the good and bad times.
Looking for a stream, I might have one if it works. All alternatives welcome of course.
