Personally get to the 50 point mark early so no looking over our shoulders. Might be too soon to be promoted at first time of asking. Would be happy to see a good transfer window in January and next summer to begin the building process of a proper pl team unlike the load of garbage we had for last two years
If we don’t get promoted this season then there’ll be another exodus of players next summer. In other words your dream of building a proper team that can compete in the PL is a fallacy as we can only do that once we’re back in the promised land. Perhaps it’s also worth pointing out that the longer a club goes without getting back up the weaker their squad becomes due to high earners draining the coffers but not producing on the field. All the decent players have left you see leaving only the dross behind. It is what it is my friend
Financially speaking. The best chance we have to go up will be this season. Next season will be slightly harder but we'll still be a force. After that we will become just another Stoke, Sunderland, Ipswich, Norwich, Birmingham etc.
Makes sense. I’m not going to overthink anything this season. If I learned one thing from last year is that clubs and players are completely disconnected from the fans. I find myself at a point that I don’t really care what league we’re in once we can win a reasonable number of games. Fans of my vintage will never see silverware won again due to the setup in the game. Man City spend 73m on a defender today despite all the enquiries into their finances yet if we spend 10p we apparently break every rule known to man. To be honest mate my appetite for the game is dwindling
and the sands of time ebb away ....we always think things are better from our youth football/music/pubs etc but unfortunately they're not coming back and you just have to accept that's currently in .....what a load of ****e
You can get promoted by focusing on the here and now as Luton have proved. Good recruitment without over paying can keep you there as Brentford are proving. Eventually selling all your best players catches up on you as Leicester and Southampton have proved. Who cares, the football is back and I can’t wait. Let the bitching season begin
It's the players for me that have changed the way things are and unfortunately that's down to the huge amounts of money they can earn by moving from club to club. Don't blame them one iota as the amounts of wonga we are talking about are colossal. That said it would be been nice if sometimes they faced up to the reality of what they've contributed to and tried their utmost to put it right before thinking about themselves.
Ok having totally rewritten my computer program to give teams a sleight weighting (both good and bad) and still allowing that element of luck, it has decided that the table after 46 games will look as follows : 1. Leicester 2. Norwich 3. Southampton 4. Middlesbrough 5. Leeds United 6. Sunderland 7. Sheff Wed 8. WBA 9. Swansea 10. Blackburn 11. Ipswich 12. Stoke 13. Preston 14. Millwall 15. QPR 16. Watford 17. Cardiff 18. Bristol City 19. Coventry 20. Birmingham 21. Huddersfield 22. Hull 23. Plymouth 24. Rotherham
Ok everyone as soon as the window closes tomorrow night (11pm) let's have your opinions on where we'll finish this season. Some have already made their views known (but feel free to update) and then we had quite a few fence sitters who decided to wait until our transfer business was concluded. My own view was a 3rd place finish and that still feels about right with 24hrs to go.... that could change though if we have a big departure.
Darren doo dahh resigned as coach after getting Wednesday promoted. That was enough to make me think they have no money or ambition.
