Welcome back! Norwich gets the season underway at Carrow Road versus Hull. Two teams hoping to get their season off to a positive start following forgettable seasons last year. Both teams are unbeaten through their pre-seasons and have managed some relatively low budget / free transfer activity to include several new squad faces.

In for Norwich: Borja Sainz (injured), Shane Duffy, Jack Stacey, Christian Fassnacht, Ashley Barnes and Kellen Fisher filling the gaps left by the departing Pukki <wah>, Dowell, Byram, Martin and Mumba. At time of writing, there are still doubts over whether Norwich will have Aarons, Raschica and Omobamidele to call on for this fixture but our squad depth now gives us a few more options. For sheer ability and potential, future value and our ongoing lack of depth at CB, keeping Omobamidele would be a great outcome.

Newbies of note for Hull include: Ruben Vinagre (LB), Jason Lokilo (RW), Xavier Simons (DM) - they do exist, and Liam Delap (CF) on loan from Man City.

Wagner’s team selections over the summer have not given us a nailed down starting XI so interested to hear your preferences on Sargent and / or Barnes up top, preferred defensive line and how do we finally get the best out of several talented midfield options?

Good luck everyone. Here’s to a successful season, with exciting football, a few more wins to enjoy, and plenty to discuss on here. <bubbly>

Excellent season opening MDT, HMQC <ok>
Worthy of three points, for sure - with or without a specialised DM.

I imagine the starting line up will be the same as that of the Olympiacos friendly.

Interesting to note that McCallum played for the u23s yesterday, but Tzolis did not - so he hasn't been fully demoted as some may think. I imagine it was a case of getting minutes for McCallum as well.

Our current squad has 28 players including 8 under 21s, four of whom are already established first team (Omobamidele, Tzolis, Rowe and Gibbs). Kellen Fisher has now joined that group, depending on what happens with Aarons. It does seem that minutes were the main factor for both McCallum and Tzolis.

I must admit I have been a bit of a negative ninny pant wetter recently, but the unbeaten run through pre season with an improved defence & going to the Carrow Road friendly last has given me hope.
In all honesty they won easily against a pretty decent side .
The only worrying thing is if Omobamidele gets sold we are already relying on Mcallum as CB cover which isn't ideal .

A few astute signings for a pittance has given the squad a new look with some character.

Well the 11 games without a win , failing to score at home since March & blowing the play off spots was not exactly positive.

Hopefully we can put the disastrous collapse of last season behind us but it was pretty ****.

Not many positives over the last 2 seasons for even the happiest of clappers .
