it’s good to see the optimism Risty, couple of points. Personally, I was always happy enough with Farke, but don’t pay any attention to positive player feedback… we had that with scoobs, with Gracia… it’s what players say with a new manager. It’s clear he’s a straight talker though and hopefully players respond to that. What do you know of Steinson and Hammond to be confident they’re so great?
it seems Farke may be happy with the inverted left back idea, like Dallas often was. So we may get used to overlapping right back with inverted winger and opposite on the left.
I think we're going into the unknown a little but I'd rather stay positive with our chances until things start to pan out. Keep reading about Leicester signing 5 players but look who they've lost and of the 5 signed, Coady makes Cooper look like Usain Bolt, Winks, Spurs fans saying great signing if your ambition is league 1, the young CB they signed on loan looked lost Sunday, no nothing about the other 2 but not jealous of any of them. Soton are stronger as it stands atm, lose Ward Prowse and Lavia and that changes.
I think it’s Gessa who has a mate who’s a bit more in the know, I thought Doc was just all over Twitter and NewsNow but I could be wrong. LB is going to be the hard position to fill this season, I too think it will be whoever is fit out of Byram and Firpo. Striker will depend on the first few games, I’ve a feeling the plan is Rutter/Joseph/Bamford and that would concern me more without the likes of Sinisterra and Summerville I agree, Archie for 40 games is a definite no, I’m expecting Greenwood and Gyabi to improve, I’m confident we’ll bring in two more before the window shuts and I think a new CB is just round the corner
It was mate but the info has dried right up, he has had no news on anything except to say Phillips was close but still a bit to iron out and that was last week.
Google “Nick Hammond” signings, he’s been involved in some great ones. I remember Newcastle were favourite for the drop at Christmas time, in comes Howe and a January transfer window and it was all change. Yes they had big money but it’s relative, we’re the rich team of the championship. We offered £10m for Piroe, very few teams in this division could even dream of that kind of spending power. Gary Penrice (who is freelance) also has a great CV as does Steinnson. On the latter Romano said he will be very influential behind the scenes for Leeds, he is a man with a wealth of experience and vast knowledge. My point is, the 49ers have not brought in those three for no reason, they haven’t brought them in to simply oversee those loan exits
One thing that makes me a little more optimistic too is, I've looked at the coaches/managers of all the other teams and I wouldn't swap Farke for any of them. Leicester bloke is a complete unknown, being Pep's number 2 doesn't make you a great coach in your own right, Russel Martin, meh. Carrick did a great job at Boro and the Wednesday boss has a good pedigree but the others no thanks
I have looked into Hammond and to a lesser extent Steinson which is why I asked the question. Hammond was brought in purely to sense check /rubber stamp already agreed signings at Newcastle. His history prior to that was mixed. He’s short term here and Penrice is his mate who he’s obviously managed to secure a bit of ‘consultancy’ for. Steinson? Ask Everton and spurs fans what they think of their recruitment. Their may be mitigating circumstances and as outsiders it’s impossible to really know the circumstances/handicaps people are dealing with. Agree that Penrice coming in late suggests we’re going to be busy, likely in and out. I’m not writing these guys off at all by the way, just adding context… and I’m happy with Ampadu and Darlow.
Being relatively local, I know a lot of Ipswich fans really rate McKenna. Just Googled him. After retiring through injury he started coaching Tottenham Under 15's, then moved on to Man U to coach the Under 18's, promoted to First Team Coach then again to assistant Manager to Mourinho. Became Ipswich Manager in December 21 and got them promoted in his first full season. Certainly an upward curve for him so far and, with the momentum Ipswich had going for the last 10 games or so last season, wouldn't be surprised at all if they go really well this year.
https://podfollow.com/1112915286/episode/f11e87157c76ceb489f882698351dfd0419e1b15/view I'm predicting 2nd for us
I'll go for the boring pick of Leicester (3 in a row for the relegated side finishing 18th the previous season).
Definitely play offs minimum required non to fussed regarding past **** shows in them ...... hopeful of auto's but we all know teams will be especially up for it against us, but possibly the foxes will be under the cosh as well so taking a bit of the limelight.....and the super computer has us at 7th sooooo.... technology what a load of cobblers
Super computer puts Coventry as third, it clicked for them last season and without Gyorkes and Hamer seemingly on his way out I’d have them down as bottom three more likely
I'm confused. Someone else said the supercomputer predicts we will finish 7th, ristac says Coventry will finish 3rd, and yet I've just read 3 different articles about the topic, saying we will finish 2nd and Coventry 9th. Wish you guys would quote where your information comes from https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...ough-and-watford-ahead-of-opening-day-4218002 Presume this is the one that Ristac saw https://theanalyst.com/2023/07/championship-2023-24-season-predictions-opta/ And I guess this is the one that someone mentioned the other day https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/spor...veals-sheffield-wednesdays-predicted-27176584
I doubt those will be the four teams in the playoff places, especially Millwall Hull and Cardiff in the bottom three looks about right though
Yes that was the first one that appeared on Google for me, I never actually followed the link, Google displayed a snapshot, any supercomputer that predicts Coventry third is obviously malfunctioning
I prefer to rely on my own super computer, my brain, and it’s telling me Leeds United will go up as champions
I love all the guessing I honestly don't give a flying fook where any other team finishes all i want is us to be up there and gaining promotion in any way or form that maybe. It;s all about us. champions,2nd,Playoffs. end of day its all the same prize playing in the Prem.
Yes the chance to play in the best League in the world with global coverage and huge income for the club that can then be invested in the squad and stadium. That prize that when we had it some on here didn't want anymore and all they did was moan and grumble and wish for the happy days of the Championship. Wonder what those fans really want from this season ?
