Heard a pov the other day about henderson and his tarnished reputation. Now I’m sure footballs do have views but let’s be honest, the majority of stuff that’s done is PR from the clubs.

Rainbow laces was an initiative that easy to do. Taking the knee, again a thing put onto the players. All of the foundation days, done by the club.

Im sure lots of players donate to charity and do stuff outside but the vast majority of all these initiatives are put onto them by fa/PL/clubs.

The one love armband. Was all good during WC until was told they’d be booked and dropped that straight away.

They have morals I’m sure. But footballers aren’t going to solve racism/poverty/equal rights. Yeah they’ll draw a bit of attention to it but the racist and homophobes aren’t changing their opinion because a footballer wore a rainbow lace or took a knee.

Saudi stuff I get, bad human rights and it’s a bit diff. But one person, henderson, shouldn’t be held to any higher standards than anyone else imo

i don’t personally care about the politics but I’m guessing the big issue is that he clearly aligned to these groups to help boost his popularity and PR. Unfortunately, he now has to suffer the consequences of deserting it.

    HURDLES OVERCOME IN THE MOVE
The transition was not without its hiccups. There were minor delays due to paperwork, and concerns that Fabinho’s French bulldogs would not be permitted into Saudi Arabia, where his breed is classified as ‘dangerous and aggressive.’ However, these were mere roadblocks, and all obstacles have now been resolved.

Does him moving to Saudi reverse all the PR he has given them?

If I donate £100 to charity every month for a year then stop doing it. Am I a terrible person cos I’m no longer donating and worse than someone who was never donating in the first place? Or should I still be praised for the work I’ve previously done.

I don't really think thats a good analogy.

if you were saying you for example you did meals on wheels and you decided to just stop and left some old folks short of food or you were doing visits to old folks homes and then stopped so that old person had that contact taken away then it might be better.

the hurt is not for the general public who don't give a **** one way or the other. the hurt is to the groups who he has let down.

those groups do feel let down. you can read their comments on the deal.

There's a significant difference between no longer donating and effectively condoning whatever the charity was working against though.

If you go around for years saying "Don't buy the Sun!" and then get a job as a Sun journalist...

another analogy would be a suggragette turning round and marrying money and becoming a lady of leisure with no tho8ght to her fellow loonies.

If you stopped and then did something in direct contradiction to the cause then, yes - I'd think you were a twat.

I'm not too fussed, bit disappointed, but I find it bizarre that some can't understand why people are pissed off.

it really should be the case

but at this point in the "preseason" the reality is whoever that player may be has missed 90% of our preseason anyway so would need integrating over time.

there's 2 major major away games between now and the end of the window though. I'd rather have someone and be integrating them in that be looking at deadline day desperation.

We need to "not lose" against Chelsea and Newcastle in the the race for 4th. (you can read not lose any way you like some joker will say we need to win all games etc)

It is what it is. So the optimum time has passed, but we just have to take it from here.

We've signed in January in the past, no integration then it's just life in football. Good idea to sign early and we do a good job of that in general but it's not always possible.

My opinion is that we will wrap Lavia up pretty soon and we’re happy to wait up until the end of the end of the window for a more experienced midfielder - I’m guessing Tchou and Caicedo are the ones we’re waiting for ie will Real sell Tchou and will Chelsea buy caicedo.
