I understand completely at what your saying and to a degree agree but my only issue is I think your being a bit disingenuous about the tap ins, one I do remember as being a well taken goal…just my opinion..
You’re not wrong. But that game time came when Oldham were the worst run side in the country. When they were taken over he stopped playing when he was clearly good enough, my underlying point being the fact he was playing for Redcliffe before being a first teamer shows it shouldn’t matter what level Jarvis has played at. He’s stood out compared to other wingers still at the club, in the most important part of the game.
It doesn't necessarily matter that he's not played at a high level before. Obviously players can break through suddenly, like Vaughan and others have. It's not that it's impossible, it's that it's unlikely and he'd have to prove a lot, and having two goals to your name in pre-season doesn't necessarily mean so much on its own. The fact he's at Shelbourne tells us he's not realistically there.
I think it really shows that Jarvis hasn't played enough senior football yet. So it's not necessarily the level solely but the volume of games. I'd prefer any player who we're considering to make the step up to have at least played a decent chunk in L2. Hopefully, this spell in the LOI for Jarvis will mean he can go on loan to L2 in Jan.
Covil looked an absolute world beater in pre season last year against some good sides. Then looked like a boy when thrown into the first team.
Wow. What a name! Do you think his parents played a lot of scrabble around the time it came to naming him and just decided to use the leftovers?
