I think we can afford to do without those fans. Trouble is there aren't many effective and legal ways of ensuring they don't come to games.
As stupid as it is, it is what happens when your club make a series of terrible decisions and suffer a slow decline for 7 or 8 years. In reality these fans are booing because of their frustration with the ownership rather than anyone else and hopefully Martin and the team know that. Few wins and they'll shut up - fickle bunch!
I wasn’t at the game so can’t comment with any authority, but there are plenty of reasons for fans booing during and after a game and it’s not always directed at events on the pitch. could of been some Bournemouth fans acting like twats or the ref being a bit too lenient as I’ve heard Edozie got kicked all game or maybe an oppo playing being a bit of a knob. I’ve only read people hearing booing from watching at home and no one from the game.
Only if we can have a judge-led inquiry, with several KCs on either side, just to help with their incomes...
Team news update via www.southamptonfc.com - The Saints boss also gave a team news update ahead of tomorrow's game. "Stuey Armstrong took a knock on Tuesday, so won't be involved, but he should be back training on Monday, and Sékou Mara, Joe Aribo and Jan Bednarek will all be back training but not in time for this game, or not to risk them for this game," he said. "But, apart from that, the squad will be as it was the other day, albeit Prowsey will be back in the squad which will be nice. He was just more precautionary [on Tuesday], which we spoke about before the game, so he'll come back into the squad. "Duje Ćaleta-Car won't be involved because his wife is giving birth in Croatia as we speak, so hopefully all of that goes really well and he has some good news for everyone very, very shortly."
Well I would rather the players felt he had their backs than that he told us everything about their lives!
He isn't smiling, the gravitational pull of his cheekbones simply forces the corners of his mouth up.
Yeah, sometimes it has to be done with varying reasons/severity and the manager has to accept that to some people, he might look like a tool for a bit if he thinks it's for the best and actually helps his internal relationships if he opens himself up to look daft to outsiders. I remember when I was working with Southend United, we had a wide player - David Worrall - who was in top form and a solid fan favourite. All of a sudden he was out of the squad and Phil Brown (then manager) concocted some bollocks excuse about it being his call and a tactical decision etc etc. Brown took a lot of heat... but then a short while later, maybe a week or two, Worrall went public with the fact that his wife had just had a miscarriage with their first child. And it actually served Brown very well in terms of his internal perception from the dressing room at that time.
