Where have I said I know something but can't say? And as always, if I get info and can share it I will. Still not going to offer any substance to your bold claim?
It's hardly as if he'd have been the only potential target at any point. It's not like they identify their top option and stop talking to others. They'll know who's available or likely becoming available in the next 5 weeks.
if that's the backing for your claim then fair enough, hopefully they are wrong and things change..... Hopefully you'll hear something from them soon that's a little more positive and you can, if you feel comfortable doing so, share it with us
We have 5 weeks to sign a keeper. The idea they've been miopic on 1 target is entirely in your head. They have lists and they'll be waiting for the PL deck of cards to start falling. Even tan before pre season said' if Darlow happens it'll be at the end of the window but we have other targets identified' Suspect a keeper was gonna be at the end of the window regardless of whether it was Darlow or not.
Connolly's apparently in training today, so I think it's safe to assume that his deal is done. Insert training ground injury jokes here...
The whole playing staff situation is a bit of a mess IMO. On the one hand we have news of impending departures of significant players, JG, Tetteh and Oscar (maybe not now help crocked again).. we have players the club seem desperate to find new homes for, we have had players in on trial who looked a lot better than the option that have been passed up. We've signed what looks like one very good player and another who falls into the 'who knows' camp. We've been hunting for a keeper since last January and patently expected Darlow to come and are now scratching around and I dont think anyone significant is going to come to be number 2... and another who we paid £4 million for last year the manager patently doesnt fancy but is likely having to find a place for. All in all, a bit of a cock up perhaps..
If you listen to Tan's RH interview prior to pre season we were certainly not 'patently expecting Darlow' at that point.
Transfers are complicated, it's not like football manager where you can just click a button. There's lots of moving parts.
I remember from years ago the then Hartlepool manager, can't recall his name, said that their list of players was in the region of fifty names. If they missed out on those at the top of the list they moved on down the list. I have no doubt that even now we, and most other clubs, are in the same boat. It's how all clubs work and have since the beginning of time. Don't understand why it's a headscratcher for some. They'll probably be waiting for a prem keeper to become 3rd choice and then snag him on loan I'd have thought.
Imagine the response on here if you sign five players and they're outside of the fifty? The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
