R.I.P Sinead. Another of my favourite female vocalists gone far too soon. While the ballads are remembered, you could rock too.
Dear god, if you've never seen this, watch it now. Probably the ultimate performance of this track. Mind blowingly good.
A lot of songs sound different when performed live but that performance wow just wow. There are not many songs I think are better than the original but as much as I like Prince this is definitely one of them.
I'm singing this song for my sister Sinéad Concerning the god awful mess that she made She told them her truth just as hard as she could Her message profoundly was misunderstood There's humans entrusted with guarding our gold And humans in charge of the saving of souls And humans responded all over the world Condemning that bald headed brave little girl And maybe she's crazy and maybe she ain't But so was Picasso and so were the saints And she's never been partial to shackles or chains She's too old for breaking and too young to tame It's askin' for trouble to stick out your neck In terms of a target a big silhouette But some candles flicker and some candles fade And some burn as true as my sister Sinead - Kris Kristofferson, "Sister Sinéad”
Here are some tracks from the long awaited first Peter Gabriel album of original material in over twenty years, I/O...
The great train robbery was 60 years ago. Nick Reynolds of the Alabama 3 was a year old when his dad Bruce Reynolds was part of the gang that stole £2.6m from a mail train in Buckinghamshire on 8 August 1963. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-66428598 Anniversary release issued today.
He did a lot, film scores with Martin Scorsese and more sorely missed. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66457469
This one of my favourite live albums. My vinyl copy left, plus most of my collection, with my daughter whilst I was off traveling and working all over the place. I may get one or two back.
Can't believe this was 45 years ago I have good memories of marching with the Anti-Nazis and then watching the Rock against Racism concert in Hoglands Park. A group of NF skinheads showed up during it and got chased all through the parks! https://www.theguardian.com/music/2008/apr/20/popandrock.race
RIP Michael Parkinson. Paul McCartney promised Michael Parkinson an interview if he would appear on his Band on the run album cover. Michael appeared and Paul kept his promise and gave Michael an interview.......... About 25 year's later.
