It’s what Leeds have done, I guess the logic is to get them off the wage bill for a year and hope they come back up first time of asking. Doesn’t sound like we are taking that approach though
Probably right, but I think CB’s is where we could sell all 5 and then improve with players to suit Martin’s philosophy? Bit harsh I know but don’t think many fans would complain about any of them being sold in reality .
No harsh at all. Doesn’t seem like any fit and some actively are detrimental to the system. We need to move as many as we can really
Read that Alan Nixon has replied to a question on Stewart that it was a suprise to Southampton that he will now be out until the end of September.
Might scupper a deal for the time being and then we perhaps return in January. Of course meaning that we get someone else in since we will likely need to
Haven’t really seen too many rumours of departures from our forward line, Onuachu aside but that’s gone pretty quiet aswell. Even if he were to go then Adams, Armstrong and Mara with Tella an option as well isn’t too bad a set of options for this league, no idea if we will be playing 1 or 2 up front
Sounds like Lavia might get done in the next 24-48hrs now, Klopp seemingly putting the squeeze on his board to get it done before LFC play in Singapore at the weekend.
I think you need to look at it as the front three positions. All the players you mentioned can play in them but really only two of them are likely to be used centrally. And one (Mara) still has questions over how effective he is in that role And Tella has been linked with moves away. And there are always rumours about Che
I expect it will be a deal that will eventually reach 50m with the add ons but will be reported as less than that as a PR exercise aided and abetted by the pro Liverpool media I kind of want Chelsea to gazump them after reading what their entitled fans are saying on Twitter. Stuff like how we should “be humble”. And yes I am aware it is mainly the dregs that are on Twitter
It appears that we are adopting the Scottish housing market approach with Lavia and JWP - offers over £x. A price is fixed by the seller. Interested parties then view the property and make offers that exceed the fixed price. All far more civilised than things south of the border.
Alan Nixon has wafer thin skin. Just noticed I am blocked by him on Twitter which is crazy as I don’t really use it. All I can think I would have said is that he had some bias in favour of northern clubs. Or maybe suggesting he might be wrong about some absurd post he made about the Adam Armstrong fee - which apparently just kept rising for some reason (again likely due to his preference for northern clubs) Either way I definitely didn’t insult him but he blocks anyone who disagrees with him. I’m not sure how much credence to put into a journalist who can’t even hack posting on Twitter unless everyone agrees with him and treats him like an all knowing oracle edit: it is worse than I thought. His tweets are protected and only approved followers can see them. For a journalist that seems crazy to me. I guess if you are going to post random transfer speculation you are going to catch a lot of flack. But isn’t he a bbc journalist. How odd
My only interest is that Saints get the most they can, nice that there seems to be competition to drive that
