Results don’t matter in pre-season but performances do. Even Baz said we looked lethargic and uninterested. We looked crap in pre-season last summer as well and that translated to competitive football and Shota was gone by September. I could not give a flying **** about the score-line but when we look poor against League 2 and National League North sides and Howden confirming my previous reservations about Rosenior not being all that savvy in the transfer market, it doesn’t make me optimistic for the season. It’s not catastrophic but I said 14th was my prediction a few weeks ago based on our trajectory and the fact that the division looks far stronger than last season means I’m sticking by it. We have an inexperienced, young manager who, to his credit, made us more resolute in defence but we’re still weak in midfield and we still look slow and ponderous on the ball.
The club didn't bother even streaming it. You think our lads would be getting up for 90 mins being kicked to **** against a non league club at a s*ithole ground as much as they would be? It was a catchup training session for us, cup final for them and exactly why Preseason means nothing.
And all you ever got was the ****ing half time score on midweek games. You usually had to wait for the full times at the end of News at Ten on ITV. Anyhow, Fish Out, Dolan Out!
Always looked a strange fixture to arrange for the first team, when we sent the u21s to Scarborough in the same division. Like a bit of an afterthought I still think we'll struggle this season, but not because we can't beat Scunny in a friendly
Massive in meltdown as well after losing at Donny tonight.. Must be the weather… https://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/322926-doncaster-rovers-vs-swfc-tonight/page/21/#comments Allam’s OUT.
01482 211422 oh the good old days, walking to phone box for 1/2 time and full time scores (and scorers)
I'd expect Vinagre and Traore to get some decent game time against Nantes. They've played 20 and now 45 minutes each and Rosenior has been talking about building players up to a full 90. Makes sense to take this final opportunity to get more minutes into them whether it's an hour or 70 or whatever. Lokilo likewise. Macca played 90 today so suspect you're right on him.
Far too many pants being pissed on here again tonight. We really are a miserable bunch lately. Overanalysing the midfield duo when he only had three available to pick from. Overanalysing the performance again when the entire point of the fixture, as LR explained, was to see who'd be up for it against an ugly direct team for whom it was a cup final. Overanalysing the pre-season on the whole when we're unbeaten across the 6 games. Some of you just need to take a breath and stop looking so hard for things to be angry about.
It's a friendly and likely players are feeling a bit fatigued as preseason has been hard by all accounts. People should ready too much into the game or result, at least the new guys and Traore got a good run out, which is probably the most important point of the evening. P.S. Good thing it wasn't streamed, as getting up at 2.30 am to watch it might have been a bind.
It's always the same ones overreacting. There's been so much bullshit spouted on here in recent weeks, probably the best being that Woods should start over Seri, but TLT being a good no.2 was also a favourite of mine along with 'we don't need a no.10.' So tonight's a real dose of reality. It's a building process and regardless of all this top 6 talk, a top half finish is a far more realistic achievement. It's also easy to say that we should sign X and Y, but we're clearly screwed by FFP, but that's largely due to major overspending last summer. There's some talent in the squad, but there's nowhere near enough. And you can't act surprised that we don't score goals when it's predominantly the same attackers as last year, who have proven to not be great in front of goal.
757 City in attendance last night and Highways closed the M180 so it took many a couple of hours to get home, all in all not a great night out.
Of course there is no rule. Manchester City could go all amateur if they wanted to. John Hawley was an amateur when he started playing for City. But their reasons are as you say.
