Im not sure if he will still be here, i cant make my mind up about him. Some games he looks a player but disappears too much for my liking. Talented lad just hasnt kicked on and not sure hes got the physicality we want in our central areas
Aye I struggle to see a role for Embo. Would love to see him settle and boss a position, but there’s not much sign. If he’s here it’s a massive season for him in terms of if he remains.
If we go with more of a 3 in the midfield, then he does gives us an option as part of that. Huge season for him though to get in the team and keep a place
Agree,I like him as a footballer,he can play with both feet. I think his biggest problem is his lack of pace. The way we play now wants mobility...which he lacks a bit. i would say he is most likely to go,....when, depends on his recovery.
I really like Embo as a player. He’s got a lot of talent and fits well with the style of football we play. The lack of a bit more pace is his biggest drawback, like you say. Some of Embo’s dodgy tackles resulted from him being half a yard too slow imo.
I think Embo's versatility will mean he will almost always get a spot on the bench (when fit obviously), he can play right across the midfield. It's a similar phenomenon with O'Nien and Gooch in that they're so versatile they'll end up racking up appearances even if they're not considered regular starters.
There’s a point there. Ability wise Embo is surely better than O’Nien and Gooch. So would we sell Embo over those 2? Just shows the fact that they always show up makes a big difference. Embo on a good game bosses those 2.
Ffs will we ever get abreak from injuries. Ive never known a club as jinxed as us.... #SAFC confirm that midfielder Jay Matete suffered a knee injury during the first-team's pre-season tour of the USA. After scoring the opening goal of the game in the 4-2 win over North Carolina, Matete was forced off in the first-half after picking up the problem at WakeMed Park. Head coach Tony Mowbray confirmed the midfielder will spend a considerable length of time as part of his rehabilitation. He said: "It looks as if he is going to need an operation. "There are different levels so I can't be definitive on a timeframe but it looks as if it will be between six to ten weeks. "He scored a great goal before he come off and he's been training really hard every day. He was topping the numbers in distance covered so he was up for it. "It was a pretty innocuous collision but that's football. It's a shame for him but it's part and parcel of the game - he'll get himself ready when he can." Speedy recovery, Jay!
People saying we need to trim the squad a bit to allow incoming players. **** that, at this rate we'll need a squad of about 40 just to cover the injuries we'll inevitably get ffs.
You assume they'd be able to diagnose it at this stage - hence the operation - but 8 to 10 weeks at the start of the season might as well be 6 months because he'll take an age to get up to speed
Summed up perfectly for me. Embo is too in and out of games and I think we have outgrown him now. Expect him to be offloaded.
We’ll always have that Wembley goal. One of the best moments in the last few years. I hope he gets back and kicks on and I think Mowbray could be a big influence. I guess we just wait and see.
