They found Cortese's shredder? Good! I don't think any of us would expect to keep these players should the right bid come in, but it has been slightly eye opening seeing just how much these clubs are trying desperately to mug us off and then their fans throw a hissy and say 'fine, we'll walk away! WE WILL DO IT!', as if we are supposed to get on our knees and beg for them to take our players on the cheap. I get negotiations are part and parcel, but the amounts Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham have been knocking around are miles off and the players they are after are ones we don't desperately need to sell, but are willing to for the right price. We are the ones in control here, so get serious if you want to make any progress.
We don't know the real figures, it's all internet conjecture, twats on twitter, some guesses better educated than others. Back in the day we were the stealth club coming out with the left field signings.
When you buy a house do you offer the asking price straight off? And when selling a house do you value the property at 300k or do you put it up at 320k in the hope of getting a bit more and when you then come to negotiating, if you meet in the middle at 300k or 310k it seems like they got a good deal, but you also got what you originally valued it at. Im sure Southampton have never bid a lower value for a player than the selling club wanted though?
Exactly - even when the final figures are revealed on these deals, we won’t know for sure on how well the negotiations went. Still a month to go and based on pre-season, our players are being professional and seem prepared to play for us in the opening weeks of the season. Staying firm is the right thing to do
I find it strange Liverpool keep coming over to our estate agent to buy our houses to be honest. But I do agree with your point, I’m not sure why some of our fans get outraged by any of this. If we sell for x price, that is the deal we did. Who gives a ****, it isn’t any out our money really is it. Negotiations take lots of different forms, and most of the stuff in the media is made up. Really surprised people take it to heart. I also don’t know what sort of house people live in for £300k, maybe one of those 1 room thingys Edit. Just looked it up, apparently a studio apartment.
Wondered how long it would be, really surprised that KWP hasn’t been snapped up by a top half premiership club… definitely can do better than Fulham
Your analogy is faulty because the you are talking about differences of less than 5%. Which is not what is going on with Lavia. The price tag is 50m. Whether you go in with 30m or 40m it is still some way off. In your house analogy that would be like putting it up for 300k and getting someone bid 180k for it. That would NEVER happen. And if it did how would you react. I’d imagine with laughter and slamming the phone down Of course a sentient human is involved here so that is another reason why the house example doesn’t work How about if you thought you were worth 50k a year and someone offered you 30k. Or 37k - it doesn’t really matter. There are very few real world circumstances where anyone would do that
If we buy the house the player comes with them doesn’t it? Thought 300k got a lot for money in Hampshire. Not like you’re part of the proper wealthy south east of England is it
Yeah. I called Liverpool FC and offered them £290k, as they were advertising it for £310k. We settled on £300k and @InBiscanWeTrust and Klopp are coming over for the house warming party. Sorry, studio apartment warming party. You wanna come?
Yes, although it depends on the description of the house that was advertised on Rightmove. You may only get the players furniture. You need to be careful how you bid...
Someone I know just sold their home, and yeah: in a seller's market, you absolutely offer the asking price straight off. The first bid they got was actually 10k above asking.
