Ash Hague: Cricket must look absolutely ridiculous to those looking in. Taking teams off before 90 overs are bowled in good weather, not starting early on the good days when you always lose time later, and of course they must have a full lunch.

That’s off the BBC cricket page.

    Sums it up pretty well

    IMO.

This is the result of people with very little intellegence being fed this narrative. The mind boggles.

Also Joe Root said earlier it isn't dark until late in July so the least they could do is play on to complete the 90 overs.

If the Aussies had a streak of sportmanship in them they'd forfeit the game.
God, can you imagine the fallout from that!

Will they get presented with the Urn later?

If they are I’ll be interest to see how they celebrate.

I’d imagine handshakes and a subdued nod of the head as opposed to wild celebrations.

A pulsating advert for test cricket should not be decided like this.

Surely they'll wait until after the Oval? Aus'll want the chance to celebrate if they win it properly.

Or play them in ****ing August and abolish the 100. It’s the first time ever they’ve not played a test match in August. The fact it was to prioritise a Mickey Mouse tournament is unbelievable.

If he had declared earlier in the 4th test how would that have helped. We would have ended up having to get runs and there would still have been no play due to rain.

Weather aside this was an amazing series.
Ridiculously close in terms of runs (until the last England innings)
Such a ****ing shame it couldn’t have been the full thing, all innings played, fought to the bitter end.

Weather's not lost us this series, appalling fielding and poor team selection in the first 2 tests has completely done us in.

It ain’t over until the fat lady, umm, scatters the Ashes on a rain sodden wicket.

    One test left.

We can still draw the series…

And send a massive ‘We’re coming to get you’ message to the cowardly, cheating convicts.
