This is getting ridiculous. Based on a meaningless pre season game against fourth tier opponents that ended in a draw, where do you think we'll finish this season?
There aren’t half some stupid ****ers on here. Just think we once lost a pre season game to Crewe 3-0. How did that season finish? Oh yeah, we won the play off final!
2007 we lost 3-2 to Winterton; we played Barmby, Windass etc - we finished 3rd in Championship same year; we all know the Bristol play-off result?
Rosenior has explained exactly why this is. He wanted to build the squad up to the point where everyone has played 90 minutes by the time the season starts. They started with everyone getting 45 minutes in both of the Turkey games. Then everyone got 60 at Grimsby, and then everyone got 75 in either the Barnsley or Bradford games. The final step was for everyone to play 90 minutes (or thereabouts) in either the Scunny or Nantes game.
Clearly, the big improvement we needed to make this pre-season was in goalscoring, and if we still struggle in front of goal as much next season then we'll have failed. Equally clearly, personnel was always going to be a big part of improving that. Several new players in attacking positions. So far, we've only really had chance to play Delap for any length of time. Some of the signings we're making to improve the goalscoring haven't even happened yet. People seem desperate to be unhappy about our football under Rosenior. That's been the case from day one and I've never understood it. Just give him a chance to do his work and judge it when he's had a decent, fit squad available for a bit.
Finally, I wonder if we can take anything from the players left out today. Coyle not involved, was that an injury? Simons too, is that because with Traore back he was just the one considered least important to get minutes into? Might suggest he's not as close to starting first team games as some have theorised.
I thought it was a good run out, we clearly have been working on one touch passing, as there were some really nice moves, like the goal, which didn't always come off, but good to see they are working on moving the ball quicker. At present De Lap looks more threatening than Oscar or Tetteh, I have been quite impressed with him so far. Greaves has had a good preseason, I can see him starting ahead of Macca. Seri look better in this game that in previous ones, Slater seems to get better, Vaughan is going to be a handful, and Vinagre & Lokilo showed some nice touches even though they only got a few minutes. So far so good is my opinion.
I reckon Coyle and Simons were two of the most in shape players so needed less minutes. Probably just slight knocks tho
You seem to be going by the results of matches rather than the quality of the performance. It's as if people would have been happy if we had beaten Bradford City 1-0.
I'm sure most sunday league goalkeepers, when confronted with a ball going wide, would have either let the ball go or, if not sure, push the ball wider Very few goalkeepers would push the ball nearer the centre of the goal Maybe our goalkeeping coach will explain that to him before his next match?
Cartwright’s out on loan for the season, in the next couple of weeks Lo-Tutala will be as well, neither will play for us this season. Making your last three pages of drivel as meaningless as yesterday’s result.
I noticed you were completely unable to produce a vald criticism of anything I said But that has always been the case with you You dont seem to realise why I seem to think that there has been some very poor decisions made Karl Darlow - good goalkeeper, we have not been willing to spend what is needed to get him Harvey Cartwright - good goalkeeper, although he will gain more from a loan than sitting on the bench TLT - poor goalkeeper, presently number 2, maybe they are grooming him as a long term cheap number 2 in the hope that he never plays! Matt Ingram is a good goalkeeper, makes saves and commands his area which is more important than an ability to pass the ball five yards to a defender
Here’s a valid criticism for you, you make a point, then repeat if fifty times, cluttering up threads and boring the arse off everyone.
only in response to a contrary view that is repeated the same number of times these contrary views, while obviously the views of their owners, dont seem to stand up to scrutiny: "TLT is a good goalkeeper with potential" "it's pointless to say Harvey Cartwright is a good goalkeeper because he's been sent out on loan" "Jacob Greaves is a better left back than centre back" "we need a goalkeeper who can pass the ball to a defender rather than somebody who can stop goals" "lying to the players is part of a manager's job even when they all know he is lying" "get used to conceding stupid goals - it's the Liam Rosenior way"
So stating something that is sensible and is supported by common sense is "boring" and it's better to be replaced by "comedy time" to garner a few cheap laughs!? Maybe I am unusual but I judge by the points made and dont obsess about who makes them Obsessing about individuals is often a sign of inadequacy
