I have had some solar panels for a few years now and intend to get more (when I have paid for this fcuking dental work), not so sure about air source heat pumps.
Air source heat pumps don't work very well at the moment, apparently. That's not to say they won't be brilliant in ten years time mind.
Im going to go back to HS2 cost again as it boils my piss, but we could be building 2 new nuclear power stations at £30bn each and quite a few offshore wind farms for the estimated £75bn+ it’s now estimated to be costing. I personally don’t mind the onshore turbines but I get why some would prefer offshore, plus the North Sea is perfect for the wind farms.
Oh absolutely. It's a lot cheaper to create an onshore wind farm though. And ideal for less scrupulous developers out to make a quick buck. I quite like the turbines but they're a nightmare for my job. Don't get me started, I'll bore you to death
Yep all the giff about bird killing,or other such stuff is bollocks. Get them built on top of the Chilterns, Pennines and Cheviots. After my farmer mate had the hassle of the turbines being erected and a plant house/substation built nearby, his cattle grazed quite contentedly underneath them no ongoing problems whatsoever. As has been suggested land owners are basically bribed for access, a new Mercedes and a Villa in Spain was what he bought with his initial money. Other money came later Another problem the government hasn't addressed is the power-lines, national grid issues Wind turbines are quite beautiful and quiet compared to huge pylons and buzzing power lines. Apparently a bill8ons of investment is needed for these.
Some truth in this, unfortunately. If interest rates do fall and the government can issue bonds cheaply... Then I hope Reeves/Starmer, as Biden has done, go for big infrastructure spending. We need new builds and refurbishment of schools and hospitals. As discussed above we need funds spent on nuclear power plants, pylons, windturbines. Battery factories. We need funds spent on rail, road and water. This should kick start the economy and growth. Atm we are in a shocking mess.
It's all about growth in the right areas. I would add to your list with Hydro electric power. Battery power factories will be a stich up now the Chinese and Tesla have a joint venture, with China having all the natural elements and cheap labour. It's great we have the Tatra factory coming to Somerset, which is heavily subsidies, which wouldn't of been achieved if we were in the EU. This comes after another big trade deal, again would not of been achieved in the EU. That should keep the brexiters happy, as well as Liz Truss fans, as alluded to growth in her downfall speech. Whatever happens, growth needs to be taking place, but needs to be the right path and affordable.
Yes we're in a huge mess and little is changing. You have to ask why a man with such vast wealth would want to be Prime Minister when it's a seemingly thankless task ... ... and why is he asking a homeless man what business he's in. It seems he's totally out of touch with everyone but people in his own circles.
Windturbines, at times the wind will blow and not all the electricity will be needed. Unless batteries are use. So why not use the excess energy to as you say for, hydroelectricity So pump water up the hill/mountain into a lake/reservoir which can be released down the mountain to drive turbines when the electricity is needed. Or as masses of electricity is needed to produce hydrogen, if there is surplus energy use it for that. It just seems that there is, particularly with the current ban on onshore windturbines, a huge gap in imagination of how we can increase and use renewable energy, so we can create our own energy security.
You could ask the same question of all MPs who are rich before getting into politics. Only one side though.
Wether we end up with cheap wind power, cheap water power, cheap hydrogen power, nuclear or anything else cheap, our bottom line household energy bill will still be humongous and will rip us off to the vast profit of the companies.
He's not though, he talks about integrity, etc, but he has no empathy. You can see, in the eyes of people like Cooper, Mandy, Streeting, etc, that they actually care about people ... ... possibly more than themselves but as least as much. I think that's because they live amongst the people they represent ... ... Sunak is all chauffeur driven cars, police escorts and private planes. He thinks he's the president
A nurses salary would take 22,000 years to equal Sunak's wealth (assuming they didn't squander any of it on luxuries like food and housing). Of course he doesn't understand the lives of us "plebs"
