Advanced playmaker is another vexed situation as that is the role Barnes filled at Burnley. It's also Jon Rowe's preferred position and Tzolis can play there as well (both often tending to gravitate there when playing on the flanks). One of my main hopes is that Barnes playing the SS/AM role can make the difference this season.
Yes I agree I think, I was meaning a more creative type of wide advanced playmaker akin to a Buendia/Cantwell/Dowell type player rather than a winger
Can we sign a DM & start the season with at least 3 CB that can walk or are we just going to keep signing more wingers again ?
We already have one -- Sainz. I know he's currently injured, but bringing in another permanent signing now for that reason wouldn't be the best use of limited funds IMO.
I'll bite....A new CB, a mix of Hanley, Gibson, Duffy, Omo (if he stays)(&Tomkinson) aren't going to stay injury free, nor are they getting younger & quicker. Need to sign someone to become first choice next season, or this if Omo goes. Tomkinson needs loaning out to LG1 once fit to see if he's worthwhile. An CDM without a history of injuries and who can sit and break-up play, with no issue of getting stuck in, someone with some...physique. We're laughably brushed off the ball for several seasons now (not just in CDM areas). RW to replace Onel. I'd also add another to replace both Placheta & Rashica. 2 x new forwards, one to replace Idah, the other to be next years replacement for Barnes. None ouf our forwards are exactly....prolific Edit: thanks for reminding me we had signed Duffy, managed to forget that
West Han look likely to sign Carlos Borges from Man City on a permanent deal, so we can write that rumour off
That's a very, very strange decision given the concerns about the squad. Giving away the League One young player of the season for £1m? Madness! This has created real doubts in my mind about all those involved in the decision. Very flat about the season now.
Probably driven by Bali himself, seeing as how we won't be playing a back three, and the club is still looking to recruit at least one more wide player.
One of the few things that cheered me up in last year's utterly depressing season was following what Bali was doing at Plymouth and imagining him back at the club and perhaps becoming a real star for us. Webber and Wagner have managed to squeeze even that little bit of hope for this coming season out of me
