Think Rosey summed it up pretty well that he's excellent 1 on 1 or in front of goal but has a lot to learn in his out possession game. Surely says something surely that he couldn't find regular game time in the National League north last year doesn't it? Promising player but not the finished article just yet.
It's pre-season. We've always had young players involved in pre-season and they often appear to do alright, but then they go back to obscurity when the season starts. I remember as a teenager being as convinced about Will Atkinson based on pre-season friendlies as some are now about Jarvis. It'd be great if he can break through but it's a huge ask, there's a lot of players ahead of him and he's not yet played at anywhere near Championship level.
We’ve had young players involved. But Jarvis has started 2/3 games we’ve played 90 minutes, was also given 60 minutes at Grimsby. He’s not exactly being used to break up the amount of time “first teamers” are given. Tan also just referred to him as a potential top talent to be sold for a big fee in the future. Also to keep highlighting he’s not played anywhere near championship level is pointless. Vaughan couldn’t get in a shocking National League Oldham and was playing for Redcliffe months before starting 6 games in a row for us…
If we recalled him I stand corrected. Doesn't explain the failed spell at York previously and NLN is a long way from the championship. He's clearly impressing, though too much expectation too soon isn't necessarily a good thing, and Liam seemed quite cautionary still on him in his comments after Barnsley.
Honestly the championship this year looks to be the most difficult in a longgggg time too many good teams maybe acun thinking best to save money this season and just avoid relagation and then splurge next season instead might be a better plan
How many teams bigged up end up being completely bang average every season? Luton were absolutely nothing special, neither were Hudds the season before
I've said it for years and years, consistency and robustness gets you out the championship. Not just chucking money at it
You seem determined to reject any realism on this. Jarvis is not the first young player to have a decent pre-season, and finishing two very simple chances isn't realistically going to put him ahead of all the players ahead of him in that position. In all likelihood, he'll go out on loan or play in the U23s again.
Who was that kid central defender that did last pre season? i never heard from him again. I liked him.
Stoke have agreed a double deal with Wolves to sign Ki-Jana Hoever and Chiquinho on loan for the season.
