I left Brid for Manchester years ago and loved the weather there. No sea fret, no fog and no wind off the north sea. No fog horn, no perma-drizzle. Might rain a bit in Manchester, but it's nothing. That said, I want it to be better than forecast this weekend as being caught out by the weather would be a real shame with the efforts England have made to get right back into this ashes series. Crawley and Ali were superb yesterday.
I said yesterday that we would end up around 60 runs ahead. I predict this morning, they will be watchful for the first 10 overs or so - try and maintain 4 per over. Once they are leading by 125 or so, I can see them really accelerating into the tail - try and get 200 in front before declaring or getting all out. They need to get 25-30 overs bowling at the Aussies's today
Think is, the wicket isnt doing much. Might as well stay out there whilst the sun is out otherwise it will be hard for England to bowl on and Aussies could score at will too
Woakes out first ball. Good news is the ball is swinging about quite a bit. Hazelwood is not a swing bowler but even he’s got it shifting about. Could be ideal conditions for Jimmy.
Agreed. Declare at lunch and hopefully have 2 sessions to level the series. It's swinging. It's doable!
Just watched the highlight of yesterday's play, a wonderful knock by Zak Crawley. Also a good innings by Root and so unlucky to get that ball that nearly never left the ground on pitching. We are in a great position, just hope the weather doesn't scupper it.
I figure they've seen the weather forecast ... tomorrow a wipe out, Sunday probably little chance of play (thunderstorms)... hoping to bowl them out around 230...
