I've seen it reported that there were some nasty tackles flying in, and even some trouble between rival fans after the game. OK, the latter is just par for the course these days. But where is the advantage in letting non-league gorillas kick lumps out of our players? Yes we will face some tough teams in League One. But allowing some bricklayer on his day off put one of our players out of the team for months on end makes no sense. Dartford (and even Welling if they can't play a clean game) should be off our Friendlies list next season.
These teams are their own worst enemies because playing us is a money earner for them, but based on what we’ve seen at Welling and Dartford this season, I think we should stick to fully professional teams for our pre-season next year.
Asiimwe looks a really good prospect for us. He was brilliant in the U18’s and has obviously stepped up today.
It's not the football season so I'm keeping this at arms length, but we lost Leaburn for a while due to a terrible challenge, while Dartford had someone sent off for throwing a punch. Pre season 'friendlies'? As a Dartford fan, I was happy to see the Addicks paying a visit, but overall, this is ridiculous. We don't need games like this. And to answer Elfs, the Orient game is way down south, and as it's ultra high season in the travel industry, I'm going to turn down the opportunity to be the 606 representative.
