Good Morning. It's Tuesday 18th Jul, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Let's get this party started Finally, the wait is over, and at 22:00hrs last night, the EFL rubber stamped the takeover of Leeds Utd. It's been a long and arduous wait; we've suspected for months that 49ers Enterprises would take the corporate reigns from Radrizzani, but in reality, the deal was not actually agreed until June 9th. With players evacuating Elland Road en masse, the wait felt like an eternity. Those who have reported on the transaction over the past six weeks, have given a completely new interpretation of the word 'imminent'; I wonder whether it will catch on! Paraag Marathe will take over as club chairman. Rudy Cline-Thomas will join the board as co-owner and Vice Chairman and Angus Kinnear will continue in his role as Managing Director. “This is an important moment for Leeds United and we are already hard at work,” “This transition is a necessary reset to chart a new course for the club. “We have already appointed a highly-respected first team manager with a track record of success, and we are confident Leeds will field a competitive squad to contend for promotion next season." "It’s a privilege to carry this torch as I know we have a responsibility to ensure this club makes our staff, players, supporters, and the Leeds and Yorkshire communities proud.” please log in to view this image Ampadu set for medical Leeds United are set to open their Summer transfer account, by signing Chelsea’s highly rated youngster Ethan Ampadu. The versatile defender, 22, was due to travel with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad for their pre-season tour of the USA, but will instead, make the shorter journey to Thorp Arch where he'll undergo a medical before being unveiled later this week. The Welsh International had interest from a host of clubs in the Premier League, Italy and Spain, but it was Leeds who put their money where their mouths are, and secured his £7m transfer (rising to £10m due to add ons, as well as a sell-on clause). Ampadu has a wealth of top flight loan experience, having spent season long loans at Sheffield Utd, Venezia and more recently Spezia. Even though all three stints ended in relegation, it is hoped he'll have the opposite effect at Elland Road. He can operate in a variety of roles, but is most comfortable at centre-back or defensive midfield. please log in to view this image Leeds face stiff competition for Diallo Leeds face stiff competition from Leicester City for the services of Amad Diallo. The in-demand Manchester Utd youngster was instrumental in helping Sunderland reach the Championship play offs last season, and with Harvey Barnes expecting to depart for Newcastle, the Foxes see the 21yo as the perfect replacement. He can play as either a winger or midfielder, and has an eye for goals. Last term he netted 14 times, and created 3 assists. Sunderland and Southampton are also keen on the Ivory Cost International. please log in to view this image Swimming legend joins the party Swimming legend Michael Phelps is part of the 49ers conglomerate that have bought Leeds. Before long, it was rumoured that Glen Kamara, Nat Phillips and Emmanuel Dennis had all agreed terms, and booked their medicals. Good morning everyone. Finally its official, now we can move on and concentrate on promotion, not what's going on behind the scenes. Now feel as though the pieces are fitting into place, safe owners who want success (even if it is only to keep the shareholders happy) and a very good head coach at this level, considering how far this club has fallen over the last couple of seasons i feel we got the best we could of hoped for in both departments, and now landed directly on our feet. Just a small matter of Farke building a promotion winning team now, but if anyone can do it, he can. Now really looking forward to the new season. MOT
Morning everyone just waiting to see what standard the next signings will be. Dennis is not the quality we need to build a team capable of a top two spot. The first signing of an experienced welsh international at 7 million is good business... Orta would have paid a lot more. How times have changed with phelps investing because under gfh we would have been lucky to attract Eric the eel.
Finally the takeover has completed. Lets crack on now with signings and Farke building a promotion winning team. IMO as long as we keep Adams and Wober we can build around these two and actually have a team better than we did with that shower of **** players we had in the Premier League. This obviously includes getting rid of the remaining ****e players who are not required anymore (Barndoor, Firposhit, Strijkout + others). All we want is great players who play for the badge / club and not just their bank balance. Too long has this been happening. Onwards and upwards!
Morning all. Good news on the ground as well so lets see how good Farke and this new dof or whatever he is turn out to be
Probably only the first offer, however if we were to sell, we should hold out for top dollar, to help build the new team, however i feel if we could keep hold of him he would thrive in the championship and rebuild his career and gain experience, because let's face it he is young and started off well enough in the prem, but quickly tailed off, but the signs of a great player was their, if he went to Everton he possibly would have the same problems still, as he would be up against the same quality players again.
Morning all Firstly, I don't believe we will have to beat anyone else for a signature in this division, if we truly want them they will be joining us ahead of Leicester and anyone else, we look a far more promising lure. We were coached poorly last season, it also transpired that we had a host of players with lucrative loan releases and it's no coincidence they have all left for teams on the continent, it explains why there was such a lack of commitment and fight and probably a lot of dressing room unrest. We don't know if the likes of Ampadu will prove successful, but it's exciting to know that we are doing our shopping from the top shelf and not the bargain basement. I honestly believe that even with the departures so far, we are the best team in the division, once we start adding a few of these new signings I'm putting us down to break a few records.
just watched this… He obviously knows the key things he needs to mention to get the fans on side and I tend to take these things with a pinch of salt… but have to say he came across really well. Smart, engaging, passionate, likeable. Good start… let’s hope he backs it up,
I think your more or less spot on their that's why i am glad to see the back of a lot of those mercenaries. Worst Leeds side i had seen in many a year in determination and in particular, pride in the club.
Similar - just watched it and first impression is he is an ok kind of person and sounds genuine. Hopefully the next few weeks will reinforce this view when we get to see what calibre of player comes in and who we keep/get rid of but so far a hint of optimism is filtering through.
At least we now have a timescale on the word imminent. In Leeds case it means about a month. So for any future signings deemed imminent for example, we can be prepared to wait about a month for their signature. Same applies to imminent return of injured players. If return from injury is imminent, they'll miss about another four weeks. Unless in the case of sick note Bamford of course
Just watched the podcast and paddy certainly seems to know what he is on about. No more dicking about in the poundshop for us. We have a pro running the club and orta and rads have educated the new owners in the wrong way to run a club. Though i think they could see things were bad and kept harrison and made orta jump. Two more seasons and Leeds united will be playing in Europe.
Well what a **** show. The ticket system is ****ed. Got in the queue at 360 and after 10 mins of no movement I get to the top and then told no events on. FFS
