We've not signed Shea as a CB. He's our Lavia replacement, I think that's pretty clear from all the noises both from him and the club. It's just a bonus that should we have an injury crisis or something, he can cover at CB.

That’s a real shame. I would love Ampadu here. I was hoping we would be in for him this summer

arguably it’s another good sign for us when trying to sign players. If we’d clung onto him for his last year then it is highly unlikely he would have got this move - even on a free - as he wouldn’t have played as much and he would have been surrounded be dross. We might not have got relegated but that’s a separate point. And only a “might”.

I know there are mitigating factors here around Barca’s budget etc

But this is honestly a shocking indictment of the decision makers, recruitment policy and general football knowledge at Southampton FC.

I am truly happy for him, but he should never have been let go for peanuts. I am sure he would have been happy to retire here.

Redmond on a free is good business.

Criminally underrated here, Elyounoussi is the player we should have binned off.

And think that was Ralph for you. He didn’t like Nate, loved a lot of Ely.

Yep, Ralph preferred to keep the players who wouldn't question him so much.

Stephens, Bednarek & Redmond all had issues with Ralph last summer - all bombed out.

That's true. But I think there are ways of questioning authority - especially in teams - and I'm not convinced Redmond necessarily did it in the right ways. The Redmond and Bertrand double act could be very hard work. But back to Redmond, he was very influential to younger players and a lot of people speak highly of him at Saints for the way he took people under his wing.

It's also why Kelvin got bombed out. But in fairness, you'd expect better from him than getting stuck into the manager behind his back.

If this is true, that should end the Tella leaving rumours??

I think Neil Redfern was relegated in consecutive seasons

Unless someone other than Burnley come in. Now I wonder if this is a downgrade or whether Redmond will flourish in the way Kompany has them play. He doesn’t have a great track record in struggling teams

Other than the English player thing, I can’t imagine why Liverpool would want Phillips over Lavia. Like preferring a Fiat to a Ferrari

    *Fiat own Ferrari though.

Edit: not any more. It is its own entity once again.

    As you were.
