It gets more like Merican Soccerball everyday, first quarter, second, third and erm whatever four quarters add up... Bring back the Florin
I honestly thought admin was taking the piss when I first saw that. The absolute fk is that all about
There's something very typically football about the arrogance of clubs inventing a new format for the game between themselves at two days notice, after everyone has bought their tickets, with seemingly no consideration that the fans might've liked to know what they were buying a ticket for.
Some right fanny's on here. ****ing hell, it's a friendly, it's a training game, wtf does it matter. People complaing that they are training in a training game! Sad acts!!!!!
They're meant to be sort of a halfway house between a training game and a proper game though, imo anyway. You need some semblance of normality. Maybe I'm just too traditional in my ways
If it’s training they shouldn’t be charging to watch it it’s a friendly So show the game some respect and show the fans some ****ing about like that
Glad there's a bit more sense on here. City Twatter seems to be the complete opposite to the FB group these days. Full of happy clappers, not allowed to say anything negative
It's so both sides can get more players an hour in their legs. Personally think if it gets more players sharp, quicker then it's hardly crime of the century. Jesus christ it's a friendly. They're hardly re-writing the rules of association football ffs! Preseason friendlies are always about training, always have been and ticket prices have always reflected that. If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it.
Well I do now I've bought my match and train tickets! That's my main gripe really. Wouldn't have bothered if I knew in advance what it was going to be
Yeah this is it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not furious, I'll still be there. But it feels disrespectful to the game and it definitely feels like no one thought they even needed to worry about what the fans would think because subconsciously, in this sport we are an afterthought to clubs.
older viewers might remember our 2-hour game against whitby in the cup in the late 1990s. the game had four periods and duane darby scored in all four.
I think it's a pretty novel idea and I assume the lads will get 60 mins each. We'll get an hour into the whole squad instead of just half of it. It's a far better idea than when we used to play 2 games on the same day under Grant. Those games are completely stop start with subs and you end up with a youth team game by the end..
I'm not really interested in the benefits of the idea to the players. It's not about that. I just think it's a bit dodgy to start messing with the rules of the game, feels like a slippery slope that could eventually lead to, I don't know, no-tackle friendlies (better for the lads after all). And if they must do it, be up front about it weeks ago and let people know before they commit to going. Again, before this descends into a typical Not606 back and forth, I'm not saying this is an enormous injustice, it's not going to ruin my summer or even weekend, but I think it's wrong, and I think it's another slightly sad reminder of how little supporters factor into clubs' thinking.
This really confuses me. Everyone knows pre season is about the players, not the fans and the games are usually drab affairs. When you buy a ticket to a pre season game, you know it's effectively a training game and will lack intensity. This way, you get to see an extra 30 mins and it should be less stop and start and you get to see the full squad play too. When clubs play games behind closed doors fans moan, so they play them in front of fans and they still moan. I don't really understand why you're complaining, it's a local game, it's cheap and there's nothing else to do on Saturday afternoon
