It sounds like the parents and the Sun were looking for a payday. " Detectives from the Met Police have ended their assessment into the allegations and determined there is no evidence of a criminal offence "
rod liddle on here more front than Southend wants to remember his days as a junior reporter in redcar the two faced ****
Good of all the press to focus on this rather than BoJo breaking the law refusing to hand over his texts today.
"Edwards' wife Vicky Flind said her husband was "suffering from serious mental health issues" and is now "receiving in-patient hospital care where he will stay for the foreseeable future" as she asked for privacy for her family. It comes as the BBC reported he was facing "yet more allegations of inappropriate behaviour" - this time towards his colleagues at the corporation. Two current colleagues and a former BBC staff member said they had received inappropriate messages from the presenter. One told BBC News they were contacted this year with a flirtatious message which referenced their appearance. Another said they felt messages they received were an abuse of power." So not just the Sun then
This is where I stand. No criminal charges have been brought against him, the young person says the claims from her estranged family are rubbish. It's all unsubstantiated claims from a filthy tabloid intent on bringing him down. All the additional stuff from other alleged victims is tittle tattle and a few dodgy messages. He probably is a bit of a wrong one and clearly hasn't acted as he should have but the pile on from all us whiter than white individuals who have never done anythjng wrong has typically been ridiculous
Apologies, didn't really come across very well! I'm well aware it was ITV. The BBC saw how their rivals mishandled the Schofield carry on, watched the disastrous public reaction play out yet decided to essentially do the same thing themselves. They knew about the claims weeks before mentioning it to the accused when they could have got ahead of the curve but instead they sat on it, giving the parents time to sell the story to the newspapers and watch it all completely blow up. That's either ignorance or just stupidity from the BBC, especially when the person accused has a history of mental health issues and has discussed this openly. They won't learn, they never do.
So a person who decides to give a crack addict £35,000 is innocent? His mother obviously thinks differently as I think most parents would do. Edwards is an innocent party, even if its is consensual? Nahhh, not for me it isn't.
He is a senior figure in an organisation which has held other public figures to account for legal but deplorable behaviour, even reporting on the himself. He and the peoole he works for are hypocrites of the highest order, having only a few weeks ago joined in the public defenestration of a presenter on a rival TV channel. But I'm not concerned with Edwards himself. Again, as it might not be clear to you, it is the BBC which once more has very serious questions to answer. The allegations were made to them several weeks before the Sun story. In that time they , by their own admission, did not even speak to Edwards until the paper published. No investigation took place other than an email and a telephone call. It is the Sun which is now giving them details of their inquiries which include statements from other members of BBC staff, though redacted and other particulars which the BBC failed to find out for themselves. It is the BBC which is the problem here. Yet again, after forty years of known prevarication and cover ups, they appear to have sat on a story until they were forced to address it. You would assume by this long repeated behaviour, that this delaying tactic works. That some stories really do just "go away".
I was speculating mate, not having the facts in front of me,about the role of the newspaper. I never suggested the presenter was innocent....the fifth word of my post was "if".
I'm not sure why, with your only post, you're quoting me. There's a lot worse been said, by other posters, and my post you're quoting looks quite resonable reading it back. In that I'm simply putting forward different options, not making a judgement. I haven't piled in because I don't know the facts, I did with Rolf because he deserved it. We're all, you included, making a judgemt based on what we've seen. You're saying the allegations the BBC are investigating are just tittle tattle when they could be serious. Everyone's speculating from the news channels to MPs and I'm as entitled as anyone else ... ... it's a forum based on opinions and gossip like most social media.
Sorry I didn't mean to single you out. My first line was actually agreeing with you as yours was a balanced and fair post. I've not followed this thread but overall on social media there has been a massive pile on by folk who haven't got a clue. Like most of these stories, the truth will be somewhere in middle
No problem mate, I thought that might be the case. You'll have to excuse me, I was told I was being followed around the threads by some weirdo I have on ignore. When I looked, sure enough he'd singled me out, on here, and totally ignored the subject of the thread. He's even quoting my posts as if I can see what he's saying ... ... there should be a double ignore feature
"good day to bury bad news". Was the same with the Titan disaster an few weeks ago, all eyes on that meanwhile Joe Bidens son was buried on the back pages for a few crimes. People think I'm mad at times but there's always something roughly every 3 weeks. Bojo party gate Schofield Harry's courtroom debacle Ukrain Titan Now this BBC **** show Seems like planned diversion tactics all the time. Other than the Ukraine, these stories come and go as fast as they showed up.
