Tea up the golf club has evolved to dinner in the fancy local 'gastro' pub. I do cringe at that term, but the food is superb fair play. It'll cost about three times what the golf club would have though! Will dine in better style tonight. Might take pics.
Went for a curry last night after cricket training. Had Naga chicken, half a portion of rice, two tandoori roti, three pints of Kingfisher. Obligatory poppadoms & chutneys. Was ok, not brilliant but definitely edible. Feel massive, have put a bit of weight on last month or so. Need to sort my **** out. Tonight won't help!
Went to the beach today... Up at Sandsend near Whitby - was really nice. Mrs says we'll get some lunch - fish taco spot with a hole in the wall for takeaways. Sounds great. Pissed it down as we were walking over so decided to have a sit down. Not cheap, but very good - https://www.fishcottage.co.uk/ . Bottle of wine, she had tacos, I had fish pie, kids had fish & chips and scampi. Excellent value for kids (£8 inc drink and 2 scoops of ice cream). For some reason I took no photos... would go again. Some excellent stuff on the specials. Fancy chicken kievs and veg just about to come out of the oven for tea.
I love a good chicken kiev, and picked up a couple from a cracking butchers on the way back from Whitby. Were the best I've had, hands down. Quick, easy tea.
Had chorizo and blackpudding scotch egg to start, which was very nice. Made the mistake of good old steak and chips for main. Had the siroin, rare. They had massively over seasoned it, same as with the (unneccessarily) thrice cut chips. Don't know why they had to cook them three times, once or twice would have been fine. So, the whole thing was too salty. The pepper sauce was nice though, and the roasted tomatoes gave it some sweetness to off set the salt. Wish I'd had lamb or hake, but there you go. Desserts were great. As was the wine. Didn't take pics, cba.
Bit of beef on the rotisserie this afternoon's Sunday roast. Bangin... Couldn't be arsed to take any plated photos, but was grand. Enough left for the weeks sarnies too. £17 on offer from that good butchers I grabbed the kievs from.
I've been meaning to make this for a while now and will get around to it at some point. However, that looks ****ing awful.
