    ADAMARIS 3;30 Market Rasen 16/1 (365)
Yard in great form and on handicap debut could be very well treated.
Had a recent spin on the flat to put him spot on and the booking of Hughes really catches the eye.

Halved in price. Yard been going well but jockey booking would be a massive negative for me. Best of luck.

Chaldean goes to France to run in the Prix Jean Prat, a 7f race since 2019 (used to be 9f and 8f before that). I think he's really a 7f horse anyway and that 8f is a bit beyond him. He did win the Guineas but he was well ridden and probably suited by the going. If he's well and the Ascot defeat hasn't affected him then he should confirm his superiority over this lot. How is it a Group 1?
Can't see him running in the Sussex, win or lose.

On the Normandy coast this afternoon, Chaldean should return to winning ways in the Prix Jean Prat (2:50). Whilst the British bookies are obviously biased towards the raiding party (he is odds on favourite), the reality is that the home defence just does not look up to the challenge. Second favourite is the Kevin Ryan trained Hi Royal, who chased home Andrew Balding’s colt in the Guineas before finishing third to Paddington in the Irish version. Charyn ran in both those races as well as the St James’s Palace but is hard to make a case for him dropping back to seven given that the Juddmonte favourite won the Dewhurst over the trip. Ballydoyle is represented by Meditate, who contested the fillies’ mile Classics before trying to make all in the Coronation. Assuming that Chaldean will also want to be at the front end, could she influence the way the race is run? The best chance for the home defence is Breizh Sky, winner of the Group 3 Prix Paul de Moussac last time at this distance (Good Guess second, Showay fourth, Belbek fifth) but that simply does not look good enough and he was previously third in a sub-standard Poulains.

There are other British raiders on the card and the British bookies have Karl Burke’s Spycatcher favourite for the Prix de Ris-Orangis (4:00). He was second in the Chipchase on the Newcastle kitty litter a week ago (possibly flattered by the proximity to the winner) following on from a fourth in the Victoria Cup in May. There are only two three year olds in the field and Christophe Ferland’s Shalromy was second in a course and distance Group 3 when last seen in May. Previous Group 3 course and distance winner Coeur De Pierre was thrown in at the deep end in the Jubilee at the Royal meeting and should go well back at this level. Hat-trick seeking Siam Paragon steps up in class having collected two conditions races at Saint Cloud but is now 3lb worse off with BOUTTEMONT for the most recent of them; and Yann Barberot’s charge has subsequently picked up a Listed race at Chantilly (where George Boughey’s Perdika ran abysmally) in first time blinkers and won the Group 3 Prix de Meautry over this course and distance last August with Batwan and Siam Paragon in rear.

It's the 'in the finish' bit that worries me. Creating some bizarre images in my mind.

In the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville (14:50), a Group-1 event overr 7f., maybe Charyn will make a bold show of it and give the others, including the odds-on favourite Chaldean, a run for their money? The Dark Angel colt has pretty fair past form and should be suited by the conditions of this race. David Egan rides for the Roger Varian yard.

12/1 is the best price in several places at time of writing. Certainly worth an E/W punt? We'll see.

Shock win for 25-1 Good Guess. Looks like Paddington broke Chaldean at Ascot as the latter ran woefully. Paddington might break a few horses.
