Hants the first team to reach finals day ten times and all in the last 14 years, we are the t20 kings.
Second time in three years that it's been an all South Group final. I think all four sides have a real chance, which isn't always the case. Somerset-Surrey is the bumper SF, and I think the winner of that would be the favourite to win the final. But we managed to beat both of them in the group stage, and are the reigning champions. Whilst Essex might be that side who squeeze through to take the final spot right at the end, and then proceed to go all the way and win it. We've seen it before in t20, we've seen it before in the football league play-offs. Somerset deserve to win it in my eyes. But the only two sides who have beaten them this season are both at Finals Day with them. Assuming that Lawrence is made available (and I don't see why he wouldn't be), none of the four sides will be impacted by any England call-ups.
I'm going to be in The States for Finals Day so I'll be missing it. Shame, as it could be one of the greatest Finals Day's ever. Somerset have been the best team in the competition so far but that means very little on Finals Day. I wouldn't fancy facing our bowling attack after tonight. All to play for. Oh, and I hope we get a Somerset v Hants final as they tend to be very eventful....
We'll be the first SF on Saturday...if it goes ahead, that is. The forecast currently isn't great until the evening. Hopefully that improves as a week goes on.
Yes! Recipe of this game: Broad gets rid of Warner, Woakes gets rid of most of the other batters, Wood rips out the tail. It was always the way to go before a ball was even bowled this series (albeit I accept Wood wasn't fit enough).
Now it's getting to the stage where we want rain/bad light to end play because we do not want to bat tonight.
On TMS earlier they were saying that perhaps people had misjudged how bad Bairstow leg still is . he’s taken about 7 out of 20 opportunities , Carey has taken about 17 out of 20 . even more reason to drop him , it won’t get any better during an ashes series !
