I agree, thought there would've been more business sorted by now, especially seeing as the management/owners like to do business early

There are definitely areas we can strengthen but unlike the past we have a strong core of players who I'm sure will able to do a decent job at this level. The 1 area of big priority for me is a striker, although Ladapo was good for us last season the team was a different beast when Hirst was in the side, getting him in the building or a player of similar ilk I think will determine whether we can dream of a top half finish.

CB could probably do with additional cover, although we have a number of players who can move into that role, so it's not a desperate need. Doesn't seem long ago we were going into seasons with real gaps in personnel and just having 1 CB for example.

I'd also like to see some competition/ a replacement for Burns. Edwards was superb coming on and impacting games last season but mainly down the left, didn't have the same thing down the right.

Other than that I'm sure it will be a one in one out policy, if we manage to improve on what we have. I think this is the best squad in terms of quality and depth we've had since the Burley era and remember the season we got promoted to the PL we barely signed anyone.

I think it's taking longer because we are going in for much better quality and there is much more competition, I expect 3 more signings...2 strikers and a CB

What happened with regards to Hirst ? I thought he would be a number 1 target for us but theres nothing that i know about with regarding a bid for him. Is it because Leicester want to keep him ? he doesnt want to come here ? or we dont want him, any ideas ?

Maybe Leicester don't want to sell him to a rival?
Or maybe they are waiting to see who they can get in, or who'll still be with the club.

I thought with their relegation and Vardy coming to the end it might be unlikely which is a shame, bit im sure McK is aware of the situation and has other irons in the fire.

If we thought it was a good deal for us and if he’d wanted to come, we’d have done the deal.

    We do not want to
    - overpay for players
    - sign players who don’t relish the prospect of playing for Ipswich Town and Kieran McKenna

It may just be that the lad being based in the North West doesn’t want to be all the way over in Suffolk. Or it may be that Coventry paid way more than what we wanted to bid.

We’ve got the foundation of a good team already. We are strong in every position with two good options all over the park, which is already more than can be said of two thirds of the sides in the Championship.

Whilst I share your optimism about us having the foundation of a good team I'm a bit concerned about our depth at CB and centre forward. However I have faith MA and KMc have recruitment in hand.

CB, CF and right winger for me - not sure if Burns will be good enough for championship (hope I’m wrong)

I'd say Burns has been our most consistent player over the past 2 seasons, so I'd say at a minimum he deserves the chance, I think he'll be good enough. He's generally been one of the first names on the team sheet. But it is an area I think he could do with some competition, although Edwards can cover left and right side

Welcome Cieran, fits the profile of acquiring young players with Premiership backgrounds so definitely one for the future. Also like his comments elsewhere, about our style of play,we certainly have a more modern, identifiable way of playing.

Its going to be a step up for everyone and rightly so but hopefully most of our team will make the jump in quality, after all our ageing lousy team of a few seasons ago managed to survive in the Championship for a few seasons so maybe its not beyond us to get a mid table position in the first season, we ll soon find out.

Do you think a mid table finish would be a good season?
When we confirmed promotion, I was convinced we would be in the mix for the play offs, but as time has gone on, and with the lack of signings so far, I'm thinking I was a tad over optimistic.
With the current squad we have, I think mid table is about right, but, if there are a few more quality signings, then I may think play offs again....tough one to call without rose tinted specs.

I’d be happy with a top ten finish next Season with a proper push for the Playoffs the Season after.

fieldmarshall and bigal echo my feelings exactly. Enjoy being back amongst the bigger clubs, do the double over Norwich, but don’t expect to compete with the likes of Leicester just yet.

Our brand of football and this brilliant squad will prevail in the long run, but it’s a big ask for us to hit the ground running and go and get over 90 points. Between finishing top half and getting sixth spot will be quite fine margins and a few points here or there won’t define whether we’re putting in performances and growing.

This team could surprise us all and go and get in the Premier League. They are better than McCarthy’s lot were, but win or lose every game is going to be a party this season.
