http://www.plymouth.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=262380 Looks like the draw could have been a blessing in disguise. Well worth the trip to Stourbridge I reckon. COYG!!
Great for the money........£67500 per club...........we still need a few new players who are available for the Cup replay.
Hate to say it but the game probably won't turn out the way we want it to....lets hope I'm terribly wrong!
We used to be quite poor when it was televised but more recent occasions have been much better. They are showing this one in the hope there will be an upset because that is much better for them if it happens. I remember going to a mates house a few years back to watch Argyle in a cup match against Rushden and Diamonds who were a non league outfit at the time. I was expecting a decent match but a result for us. What a mistake that was as we were outplayed all night and never looked remotely like winning the match. The money for this will be god sent and perhaps win or lose it will turn out at least financially to be a good result to have drawn the first match so spectacularly. Had it only been a 1- 1 or 0 - 0 then it would not have attracted the cameras.
My son has the full package of everything ever televised I think so I might just have to look pleadingly in his direction. I never find watching Argyle on the TV a relaxing occupation or pastime though. It is the years of expecting the thing to go wrong that has me uncomfortable. It was always the same when there was giant killing to be done. I'd go to a match full of "this is our time" and come away having been trounced more often than not. When the giant killing was supposed to be the other way around sadly it often came true.
Can you let me know how much you pay for ESPN Gat. I have the full Sky Sports, Movies, Broadband and Sky Talk package and need to pay an extra £9 for ESPN. As we don't have multi room the amount of sport I watch at the moment together with every home and several away Argyle games doesn't always go down too well. Still I could probably justify just the one month - I don't think there's a long contract required. I don't think there's a pay per game any more like there used to be on ESPN - does anybody know?
Ah well £33,750 is better than nothing - which we would have had if Baz had not banged in that last goal.
Absolutely not to be sniffed at in our situation hobo. That will buy the squad a lot of jelly babbies which is what most of them have to be paid in given their age. If we win, and I know a number doubt that, that will be a real added bonus along with another part of the gate. It also might add interet to the Stevenage game which just maybe could also be picked to be televised giving us another reasonable payday. Give me games we can progress with anytime over a big club draw. With a little luck we could make a decent amount and still draw one later on.
Afternoon Greens_are_good_for_you I have BT Vision and I just paid a one off payment of £10 for ESPN and now get it for free (well I think I do lol) apparently you can cancel ESPN straight after the match, that seems to be what a lot of people are doing ... as I said I only have floor space left if you want to watch the match without the hassle of adding the package !
Don't fall for it greens_are_good_for_you. She is really a wrinkled old spinster who lures young men into her house with promises of TV football. You will be made to wear shorts and do a warm up routine before the match whilst she video tapes it. Nobody has ever come out again.
She gets them to sort out her equipment before each match..........how come sensible that you've survived and can tell the story then ?
I have a web of underground passages from my dungeon plymborn. I can spy anywhere. But in this case she was so overcome by my warm up that I managed to get out of the bathroom window.
Thanks for the offer Gat but I'm forty miles from Plymouth and would struggle to make it in time after work. And as for Sensible's warning to young men, it's amazing the picture a message board can paint of someone. Suffice to say I'm a Grandad to a 7 year old so not that young! (but may still be gullible lol)
Local Pubs away from Plymouth would show Champions League football..............I have in the past found it difficult to find an Argyle game on.............I think there was six nations Rugby on last time I tried. Have in the past watched Argyle in a Pub with the sound down.........because it didn't interest anyone else.
She would prefer them not to fit............a bit on the tightside...........not to big.........where's the fun in that.
