Keep Mrs Honeyman right out of sight, ‘cos there’s gonna be a riot down in Trumpton tonight.
Bought the Trumpton, Camberwick Green & Chigley DVDs for my kids, who are now 18 &16.
Glad to say they have stood the test of time. Brian Cant’s voice was very calming.

All this talk of various children's TV got me thinking about one of my favourites (Mary, Mungo & Midge) but I felt sure that it had come up already in this thread so I trawled back to see if I could find it. I couldn't, but what it did highlight to me was how no one had commented on one of my favourite comedy series of all time. It featured someone that I can honestly call an absolute hero of mine, and when people talk about stars being great to spend an evening sharing a few beers with, I feel sure an evening in his company would be amazing! Also, in view of the fact that this is primarily a football thread, I'm amazed that this particular episode hasn't come up before. Like I said, I love both series but Golden Gordon really is something else, in fact I was considering posting the sequence about shorts on the Rivals thread as there's been some comments about how football used to be played. Actually I might still post it anyway, but for now all I have to say is 8-1, 8 bloody 1! And if anyone on here has not seen the episode, do yourself a favour and watch this episode, it really is that good!

I read that Alice Cooper was a neighbour of Groucho Marx and in Groucho's later years Cooper would sit with him and watch old black and white films while Groucho told stories about the actors and old Hollywood

Saw that story too. I've always had a soft spot for Alice and GM was a comic genius. :emoticon-0148-yes:

My favourite AC song was somewhat prescient, wasn't it? He'd have made a better President than the Orange Clown! <laugh>

As soon as I heard the first blue, white and orange ident I was waiting for the Big Match , Orient V Charlton , the smell of the Sunday dinner cooking, and waiting for the old man to come home from the boozer before dinner is on the table and the Golden shot with Bob Monkhouse at tea time , Bernie the Bolt and Ann Aston

First time I saw Alice Cooper was at Wembley empire pool just as Schools out was in the charts and I vaguely recall the opening act was Roxy Music who got soundly booed off at the end of their set , Coopers stage set included ballons with Maggots inside, which after the lights came on at the end you could see was white rice <laugh>
