Anyone see owner Gareth Cheshire on course interview this week saying his horse GOLDEN RULES “would not get beat, have what you like on” in the Northumberland Plate.

In to 7/2 from 6/1 since I posted

Will be a fantastic bit of business for his current connections, if Golden Rules does oblige, as they bought him out of the Gosden barn for just 6,000 gns in Oct '21. Great price really when you consider his run, prior to this sale, was to finish 4th at Royal Ascot (beaten just 2 lengths in the Ascot Stakes).

Golden Rules has also overcome adversity as was off the old track for 21 months prior to his comeback win in March.

Always been a fan of this great staying race though. One thing I've never understood though. Why is it often referred to as 'Richard Pitman's Derby?!?

Bit of NH (National Hunt not Nicky Henderson) news. I see that the unnamed half-brother to both Douvan and Jonbon who sold for €250,000, earlier in the week, will be going into training with old boy, Olly Murphy.

Maybe the 3YO gelding, by Doctor Dino, will appear in a bumper at some point during the 2023/24 NH campaign.

Zoffee at 8/1 in the Northumberland Plate and a lazy bet on the Chester maestro Franny Norton. All his 6 mounts in trebles. Good luck all.

Can’t wait to see him in a 0-95 at Southwell in a couple of summers time.
It’s like buying Jude Bellingham and sending him to Wycombe

Two in the big one for me today:

Aztec Empire 22/1 & Rajinsky 20/1. Both ew 7 places and the rev fc for good measure.

The Northumberland Plate Class-2 Handicap at Newcastle on the Tapeta surface, (14:05), is certainly a decent renewal. I'll go with the two William Haggas entries, Nathanael Greene and Post Impressionist. Latter has a car-park draw to contend with, but could still run a big race. Top jockeys, Andrea Atzeni and Tom Marquand on board for the Haggas stable.

SP's will no doubt be good enough! E/W on each, plus a 'Hail Mary' type Rev. Forecast!

Every success, folks, and enjoy the afternoon! :emoticon-0167-beer:

Very disappointed that you didn't say Chippenham Town, old boy.

Going for Rainbow Dreamer at 22/1 in the plate paying 7 places. Good horse over the past few seasons and could go well at the price today I think.

Thanks for posting - adds some real interest to the race. You can't beat a confident owner, reminds me of Harry Findlay <ok>
