**** sake it's the biggest game you could possibly play as an England player lads, an Ashes Test at Lord's. Not a knockabout in the park
200 more runs in this innings and we win. Lyons out for the rest of this test and probably the series. Tomorrow - engage brain.
Our day I think, despite that suicidal hour late on. Lyon going off is a bonus, he can sit with Jack Leach and watch the rest of the series.
I can’t wait to find out the extent of Gary’s calf injury. I sustained a grade 3 rupture about 11 years ago and it felt like I’d been shot. Never cried though. Pansy.
Hi all, we have 20 platinum nursery pavilion tickets tomorrow that we haven't sold. If anyone has any takers then let me know - we can offer for a reduced price at this stage.
Just stupid. Don't hide behind 'it's just the way we play nowadays', learn when to go gung ho and when to play attritional cricket. An amateur shambles I'm afraid.
Copied from BBC England went from 188-1 to 325 all out. The mathematicians among will have worked out that means Ben Stokes' side lost their last nine wickets for 137 runs. That's not great at the best of times but the manner of so many of those wickets is what will really rankle with England fans.
I’m 51 years old. I refuse to watch the Hundred, never have and never will. Total dog turd. I like the 50 over game, it’s got its place and I’ll subscribe and pay to watch the World Cup. 20/20 I can take or leave, mainly leave. My real love is Test Cricket. It’s called Test Cricket for a reason and what I’m seeing from England in this series isn’t Test Cricket. This is the Ashes and I really don’t care how we go about it, I just want us to win. I’m fully for positive, forward thinking cricket and yesterday at 180/1 that’s what we were playing. By playing positively (scoring at 5 an over) BUT sensibly we were getting a foot hold in the game after a poor first day. And then, when the short stuff arrived, we didn’t so much press the self destruct button as to stick a flying head but on the bastard. And then repeatedly smashed our heads on it, again and again and again as the wickets were recklessly thrown away. Duckett hoying his wicket away on 98 being a prime example. I’m currently layed up, having had a hip replacement, and was really looking forward to watching this series. I dare say I won’t even bother watching the 4th and 5th tests if we carry in with this pathetic, brain dead approach. I, simply, don’t enjoy watching England throw games away against the Aussies when, with a bit of application and common cricketing sense we could and should be beating them. Speaking to my mates, I know I’m not alone in my thoughts. Baz ball may just be losing as many supporters of the game as it’s gaining. Think on Baz and Ben. Think on.
It's at times like this that I'm reminded of the wisdom expounded by the late, great Kenny Rogers. You've got to know when to hold 'em Know when to fold 'em Know when to walk away And know when to run. I've found this excellent advice for life in general, and although I've never played test cricket, I know it will be fundamental there. This England team just haven't got their head's around The Gambler's advice. Taste his whiskey, lads. Taste his whiskey. You're out of Aces.
