He's not a reserve player at all, just we've had the succession planning in place since he was attracting interest last year. 40+ appearances is hardly a backup player.

I’d take £7m if it was offered, though it’ll be more than that plus clauses. Centre halves don’t go for as much as forward players, but for a youth player looking to make the next step, it’s about right for me.

£7m to £8m would easily buy you a capable replacement, with change to spare for other areas/wages for free transfers.

Fair enough, I thought he started more than 5 games on the bench, interesting to see that he played more games at left back than centre back though - Squad: 45, Starting eleven: 40, Substituted in: 4, On the bench: 1, Suspended: 0, Injured: 0

Not that surprising considering he was the best left back at the club last season and Macca hit form.

Never mind this FFP bollocks, just follow the Man City blueprint and sign anyone you like. It's a bad state of affairs when you hear all this transfer talk about a xxxxxxx goalkeeper. Something needs to happen soon to liven things up. Talk about boring...

boro offered £9mill before he signed the new contract last summer so surely should be looking for more than £7million

Not sure it was £9m. Think it was more like 5 rising to 7.

How do we know that photo is current?
    Scores goals....

On Darlow. Just because he was at the Barcodes, doesn't mean he'd prefer Boro to here..Btw..He's from Northampton. I always assumed he was from the Notts area. Just goes to show.

Thing about Boro is that Darlow would be able to commute from Ponteland without uprooting his family. That wouldn't be as feasible if he comes to us.

didn't he bring his family when he made the loan move? your definitely right in saying he wouldn't have to move if he went to boro,

    Ponteland / Beverley...Not much between them...Overall I'd say Hull's suburbs are better than Newcastle's

You’d think so but are they after signing a centre back or one of these introverted left backs?
If centre back, his stock must have dropped substantially. Early season, he was part of one of the leakiest defence in the division. Macca replaced him and we saw a remarkable turn around in that defence. Also he has hardly played centre back for over half a season.
If they are looking at signing him as a left back, I suspect there aren’t many who play in this new role which should increase his value.

Beverley kicks the **** out of Ponteland.

    Minster? Check

    Railway? Check

    History? Check

    Quality Pubs? Check

    Industrial heritage? Check

    Market? Check

    Racecourse? Check

    Openly accessible public land? Check

And that's just off the top of my head.

Ponteland, as it is today, is a supermarket hub for Darras Hall.

And Darras Hall is a soulless housing estate for Geordies on the make.

Don't knock Beverley. It's a wonderful place right on your doorstep.

If anyone's looking for a marauding centre half to play left of a 3 who also has the versatility to play 2 positions in a back 4 then you're going to struggle to find a better domestic prospect in the championship.

Who's knocking Beverley? ...Its a cracking town....I like it...if I could afford to live there, I would
I drove through Ponteland about 20 years ago. Seemed okay at the time...

Ponteland. I thought I was entering the twilight zone. People wandering around in their dressing gowns, popped into the local for a carvery on our way north of the wall, waitress was like some sort of grinning Cheshire Cat that wouldn't leave us alone, the guy plating up the carvery couldn't get enough of his organic carrots on our plates. Never been back since.

To be honest you probably made the right choice. There's nowt else on the A696 until Jedburgh and their take on pyjama clad, grinning goons needs to be seen to be believed.
