I do agree….I think that when you’re young you do tend to listen to one kind of music, probably what is popular at the time, and get ingrained into listening to that and that only.
Also a factor I reckon is that where you are in your “life’s journey”
For me it was growing up with punk and 2 tone, moving on to Reggae and original ska. Then came my “Oí” phase, then dance music…whereas for the last many years I’ve opened up to anything from Japanese hardcore to Motown soul…..Opera to Jazz…..Country to Grime.
You might be right about Sheeran…..but like him or loath him, he does write a catchy tune and has got some enormous talent.

Your right Hammers, of course it should be mentioned…I’ve always thought of myself as being a bit hypocritical (I know that it’s hard to believe), doing the job I do…while listening and enjoying “Grime” music, when many of the artists I listen to are either in prison or dead. And are talking of “cheffing” and taking down their rivals with a “star 9”.

As everyone knows, Floyd are my favourite band of all time. I still listen to their stuff most days as I love the music. However, we've all seen what a prize twat Waters has become, and as a person I have to say I don't like him. I will still listen to them though as I love the music, as I will certain other musicians who I don't particularly like as people nowadays. So I suppose I'm hypocritical too. I'll listen to their music, but when they're talking about other stuff I'll hit the mute button !

To be honest, I think Waters makes some fair and valid points...but that’s probably for the politics thread
Don’t worry mate, we are all hypocrites in some way...it’s just better we admit it

    Is that hypocritical though?

So many footballers are twats, but we still admire their ability.
We can enjoy their talent whilst still not liking them can't we?

I even listened to a Michael Jackson track the other day. I pretended it was sung by someone else :emoticon-0100-smile

Except that he was a *****phile, possibly brought on by an unnatural childhood. Elton John is a diva who therefore has the occasional meltdown, but is forgiven by most because he's a musical genius.

The wife took me to see waters once
She's a big fan of the Floyd
I just wish instead of going on about how much he hated trump he had used that time to sing another song

But there are many, many, many “fans” of Jackson who will conveniently ignore his shocking behaviour due to the fact they consider him a musical genius.
Elton is just a fat, obnoxious ****

Jackson didn't play a musical instrument professionally and didn't write any meaningful songs, so "genius" is hard to justify.

What's Elton done to irritate you?

Jackson is often referred to as a musical genius….but yes I agree, it’s a title that’s hard to justify.

Elton has done nothing particularly to irritate me….he’s just my target for the day I guess.

We’re all hypocrites in some way, shape or form….it’s just human nature.

You and me are probably the only exceptions
