I thought there photos taken of new arrivals ready for an announcement last Friday according to some ITK. Maybe it should be headed the Summer’23 Rumour and Unfounded Supposition thread.
Yes, but Pelkas is reportedly on £10k less than Maxi Gomez is on so paying, say, £15,000 of those wages doesn’t seem like that much of a hit. While a lot more then many of our squad were on, I just can’t see us jumping up to paying £30,000 plus or him taking a pay cut to come here. If it is a loan, then it would have to be subsidised by Trabzonspor and they aren’t going to want to do that, I imagine. He’s a fantastic player, I just don’t see how we have scope to sign him unless at least two of our big hitters go.
There’s plenty in the pot. We need to pay the money for players like this if we’re serious about competing.
Pelkas has been reported as being on around 32k, though we may or may not have been paying all of it. Are you suggesting Gomez in on upwards of 40?
I personally don't think paying a 'marquee' striker £30k a week is off the scale, especially if we sell Oscar who is on a very good wage himself.
Seems definite we have not signed anybody new yet. I hope it is not a last minute scramble and we end up getting the ones others didn’t want like in some previous seasons. Problem is there a lot of clubs in this division which will be a lot more attractive proposition to players than ourselves even if off the field some of them are in turmoil.
The majority of clubs have barely started singing players yet. Why is there always a panic if we haven't signed someone in the first fortnight of a 3 and a half month window when the players are still on the beach?
Reportedly in the 20s, but if we can get Sinik off the wage bill as well as Pelkas and conollys supposed 20 it should give a fair amount of wiggle room on wages. Woods was one of Birmingham top earners too and is unlikely to have left for less. Don't believe Figueredo is on a crazy wage though.
There's no way we were paying all of Connolly's wages. If those 3 I mentioned aren't on £30k a week, I don't see how we're close to FFP
Next years accounts will shed more light but like I say, our turnover is a lot lower than many other clubs who get larger crowds and sell full price tickets. And Traore is reportedly on more than any other of our contracted players and I believe Ali is on a fair wedge too. So if your 3 are not on 30 but on mid to high 20s there's 2 others you haven't considered that blow the difference easily.
FFP issues are tighter for us due to the relatively small income we generate ( it's getting much better before anyone starts ) but the commercial side of things really really really suffered under the allams. Plus we are keeping match day prices low to entice fans back in etc. But it can't go on forever and if we really want to push then Money will need to be generated. We just don't have the income others do....yet
Pelkas, according to most websites I've seen (Capology being the most reliable and actually verifies their numbers where they can), is on somewhere around the £20,000 -£22,000 a week mark. He's now been released by Fenerbahce and has been linked with, funnily enough, Trabzonspor. Which makes sense because I'm sure we're after the North Macedonian lad there.
