Good Morning. It's Friday 23rd June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Vieira odds on favourite to land ER hot seat role Patrick Vieira is expected to become Leeds fifth Manager in as many months, following the final round of exhaustive interviews in London this week. Overnight, many bookies have slashed their odds as low as 1/2, with an announcement expected any time now, naming the 47yo former French star, as being the chosen one, tasked with bringing top flight football back to Elland Road. Leeds were thought to be keen to find a candidate with proven Premier League pedigree, and the kudos to attract the best talent, the Championship can expect. It would have been nice to have attracted the likes of Graham Potter or Brendan Rodgers, but in all honestly, that was never going to happen, at least not in the Championship. His style of play will suit the Whites. He likes to deploy attacking wing backs, inverted wingers, and play the possession game, something the present crop of players will need to vastly improve on, if they are to mount a serious assault on the Championship. please log in to view this image Clubs clamber for Koch's signature Manchester Utd face competition from Newcastle Utd, West Ham, Bayer Leverkusen and Frankfurt for the services of Robin Koch, according to various sources. The sought after centre-back, 26, has 12 months left on his contract, and is believed to have a clause in his terms, allowing him to go out on loan for a season, if Leeds were relegated. Effectively, this explains the rumour that he can leave Elland Road for nothing, as he would be a free agent, this time next year. With 39 appearances (in all competitions) under his belt last season, Koch played more minutes than any other Leeds player (3223 minutes), yet his stats were nothing to write home about, especially when you consider the amount of goals they conceded last season (78). please log in to view this image Rodrigo keen on Sevilla switch Leeds striker Rodrigo continuous to be linked with cut price move to Europa League champions Sevilla this Summer, with his father, and agent Adalberto Machado expressing that whilst there is 'no concrete' agreement yet, the forward is keen on the move. After firing in 15 goals last season, the 32yo was always going to attract attention, especially with only 12 months left on his contract. Various media reports suggest he could leave Elland Road for as little as £3m. Although Leeds will be loathed to see Rodrigo leave, they do need to bring their finances under control. Various media pages indicate the Spanish International is earning £100,000 a week, or £5,200,000 a year. To put that in perspective, Blackpool's entire squad earned £6,400,000 last season. According to Moreno Snr: "We have nothing firm. I have known these days of interest, but not concrete. I have an appointment now with the people of the club [Leeds]. We are going to fix all those issues and we will know soon." “There is nothing fixed. But Sevilla, always. Sevilla will always be a team that will have our interest, obviously.” please log in to view this image
As to a manager that "suits our style", given the likely clear out of players, isn't it more likely to be the other way around? The fans would like attacking Bielsaball but that needs the right manager, budget and players.
Ell think we should start a sticky showing players out, players in, players out on loan. Its going to be a busy few weeks and lots of player movement so would be good to see what’s happened…. So far just Roberts gone but McKinstry gone too after being loaned out and his contract now run out…
Helda Costa is on our books until next summer so where is he going? We got a loan fee of £4.4m from his Saudi club for last season?
Morning everyone Rodrigo needs to leave and we need a new younger striker with pace. As for Vieira i stick by what i said yezterday if he is in then i am cancelling my membership. Sick to death of these people being paid millions for sport.i only managed to get tickets twice last season so not really value is it. Might cancel anyway and by a season ticket for wakefield AFC for £60.might be better watching more honest players and not divers and time wasters.
So we’ve Roberts gone for half million, rodrigo going for 3m, Koch free and llorente 8m. Where’s all these extraordinary wads of cash we were to bring in
Morning all, so Leeds twitter are losing their minds over the amount of time it is taking to appoint a new manager. I can understand it a bit, especially when you look at speed other clubs work, but there is something refreshing about the way we are handling it this time. Managers are having to go through a round of interviews to prove their worth. Each is getting a chance to prove themselves and outline why they are rhe best option. Look at our last major managerial appointment Marsch. Orta had decided two years previous that he was the man he wanted and that was that. No other options were looked at and Orta at no point looked at what changed with Marsch in that period. Look how that worked out. That the club is doing due diligence fills me with hope about the new owners. Hopefully we are getting the right man who has proven himself and we can move forward with everyone at the club on the same page.
Morning Ell. I really need to know what level of “imminent” we’ve reached on the ownership / coach announcement
Is one of the reasons for the timing the need for the 49ers to be confirmed as legit owners by the EFL?
Fulham davey got those tickets. Palace and spurs i got and Southampton came from across the water. All those games were dire including the win over soton.
