They had sold all their season tickets by the middle of May. They have sold out every season since 2005, including in League 1.They have a waiting list for season tickets. But don’t let facts get in the way.
Remember it well, went in for nothing as the fence collapsed due to the crush of city fans trying to get through the only two turnstiles open at our end of the ground. Couldn't see half the pitch because of the fog (if my memory is correct!)
There is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.
Remember it well. Helped organise a bus with Graham Ollett (RIP) which went straight from our place of work, Ideal Standard at the time. It was our biggest away following since the Battle of Bramall Lane, March 1971 and we had serious thoughts of silverware, as it was the furthest we had been in the League Cup and we were away at Donny. Horrible night from start to finish. The police wouldn't let us off the bus when we got to Belle Vue, so no pre -match pub or anything to eat. City had thousands there and Doncaster were totally un prepared for us. Penned in like animals when we finally got into the ****hole of a ground and I ripped my sheepskin jacket trying to climb the fence, and I cannot remember why I was climbing over a fence inside the ground. We lost, Alf Wood scored one but missed about a dozen more and Donny got beat 7-1 at Spurs in the next round, which is the score we should have beat them. I can honestly say I have never seen a good game between City and Donny at their place, both grounds old and new.
Was on that bus. Ray Stevens hopped on with a lass after the game to get a freebie home. McNallys we’re on it as well. And Glenn Bird. One of those games which if you showed everything but the goals then people would have thought City must have won.
Just be very careful in your choice of wallpaper. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Hard to think that stadium once had over 37,000 in, their record crowd, for a Division 3 game against us. I think that season Raich Carter’s first 7 away games each saw a record crowd, most, if not all of which stand to this day.
On sheepskin coats...Reminds me of a tale.... A lad I knew went to see Liverpool vs Stoke, wearing his brand, new sheepskin coat. Got jumped on by a bunch of Stoke fans close to railway station, needless to say he was fleeced.
