Pep isn't stupid, he wouldn't be letting Walker leave if he was still top notch. Ridiculous discussion tbh
Obviouis statement. Walker is not the same now as 3 years ago but still among the best in the division, just not good enough to be City's best anymore. You only stay at the top by having the top players and that entails refreshing certain positions every season. You still have to keep good back up though so as not to weaken the squad/team overall.
But, he is still quick - something Trent has never been. With Virgil seemingly getting slower every month to almost the point of inertia, if we continue to play 2-5-3 when we have the ball we'll need somebody who can rush back with Konate when our defensive high line keeps getting broken.
"Ridiculous discussion" was more about us talking about him joining Liverpool than his current ability levels

Internationals have finished but still have under 21 champs going on atm so any of the targets that may be out there might still be delayed.
Chelsea have completed the signing of France International Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. The 25 year old join the club in December, but has completed the move a reported £63million.
We're usually very quick at getting our targets in, Mcallister was done quickly but there is a worry that we haven't followed that up yet.
I have a feeling though that we won't get another CM, Bajetic and Jones are the new AOC and Keita. TAA also playing CM so who do we get at RB? The Scottish kid we bought is untested. Fabinho TAA McAllister Is that our starting 3? Hendo, Thiago, Jones and Bajetic as backup and rotational players.
He's also loaned out for the season, so it won't be him. RB is likely to still be Trent with Bradley and Gomez as back-up imo. I reckon at least one more CM to come in. Morton could potentially also be an option.
It seems we are taking things for granted. Our first game of the season is a tough one.We cannot afford not to get something out of the game. Opening game against Chelsea seems to be too early.
I think we will get at least one more midfielder possibly two. I can also see us getting a CB - and I think they will all be in the 22-25 age range - looking for best value, so we won't be in for Rice or Caicedo. Klopp has spoken about a rebuild several times already and the players too are openly talking about new players coming in. The U21 tournament will be making things a bit harder but I'm optimistic that we will be getting in more players.
Think it's the usual story; we had our targets and we're sticking to them but it's proving difficult to complete. I'd be over the moon if we bought a RB and played Trent at CM. Yes, we lost four midfielders this summer but none of them were first choice, most were hardly available for selection and we've still got options... Fabinho, AMC, Hendo, Bajetic, Jones, Trent, Thiago, Elliott
