In the Scurry Stakes at Sandown, (14:50), a Listed sprint over 5f, the probable favvourite, Great State, will surely take all the beaing? Oisin Murphy on board for the Richard Fahey stable. 13/8 (PP/BetVictor) seems to be the best early-doors price at time of writing. Have a good day, folks!
York 15,40 Pure Angel 14/1 e/w bet365 and WH six places, 12/1 sky seven places Downpatrick 16,40 Tech Talk 12/1 e/w Lads, Coral and sky three places
With Ascot a few days away, York punters are probably going to get fleeced with a couple of big sprint fields and an amateur riders’ race. The price of Good Earth in the last is probably shortening because my mate backed it last week at Beverley and has done so again as it has no penalty for that win. I agree with Richard Fahey that Brooklyn Nine Nine should not be a 33/1 chance in the big sprint based purely on its last race when his other runner (with worse form and a stone more weight) Rousing Encore is 25/1. The Grand Cup looks between Israr and Quickthorn. I cannot understand why one of the Sporting Life tipsters is making Connemara Coast his bet of the day in the Sandown 1:40. It has been ‘unlucky in running’ the last twice, its only win was on the kitty litter and it races off a 1lb lower mark than when an ‘unlucky’ fourth last time. I share the trainer’s view that Great State is the one to beat in the Scurry (2:50) but it is not one I would take a short price about given the unbeaten unknown quantity Tajalla from the Varian barn and dual French winner Perdika (also second in a Group 3) are in the line up. Ryan Moore is on the aforementioned Connemara Coast and also rides New Dimension for his old governor, returning on just its fifth start. Having dissed his mount in the opener for being persistently unlucky, I am going to forgive his mount HARRY MAGNUS in the 4:00 for blowing his last race at the start when on a hat-trick. That was over six furlongs and he now returns to the seven over which he won twice, on a track more suited to his late finishing style. Owl Island makes his turf and handicap debut unbeaten in two starts on the kitty litter – he could be thrown in but the race last time only included one other previous winner. Ancestral Land was fourth in the Craven and well down the field in a Goodwood handicap last time so has a bit to prove, as does Classic, second last in the Greenham and three places ahead of the Cox horse at Goodwood in a never challenging sixth. He’s A Monster has won three times on the kitty litter but been well beaten twice on turf. This is a drop in class from his last race but does he want green stuff under hoof? Bottom weight Bussento has been in the first four on five of his six starts, including last time over a mile, so could he open his win account today in a better class event? Caragio was fourth in the Horris Hill as a juvenile so is clearly well regarded. He missed the kick at York on his return when favourite but never really improved his position, so has he trained on?
I like Killeemore lad in the first at hexham.the drift doesn’t bother me as there was no money for him when he won I also like bal kauto at downpatrick Adding great state and Harry magnus Courtesy of the forum for a Yankee Good luck all
In the 15:45 at Hexham, a Class-5 Handicap Chase over a distance just short of 2m, I do like the chance of Budarri, who has the form to run a decent race. That talented young NH jockey, Danny Mcmenamin, takes the ride for the Stuart Coltherd yard. 4/1 is the best price in most places at time of writing. Hope this selection does a bit better!
Couldn't resist posting this Pilgrim, given your signature EFL debut: Newport vs Wycombe, September 2017 International debut: Malta vs England, June 2023 Congratulations, @EbereEze10!
