I'm going to start looking at the odds for next Southampton manager again. Something is amiss here. No deal takes this long to get over the line, compensation dispute or not.
In normal circumstances this isn’t odd. But this is Sports Republic. Still think it will happen, but it is odd.
I get that we shouldn’t roll over in negotiations, but I have to be honest this saga feels like a bad look for the club.
It is just weird we don’t have him now. We are officially a Championship team. Also why has it gone so quiet?
TBH none of us really knows what is being discussed or how the discussions are going. I wouldn't let past form be an indicator of future performance by SR on this issue. Let's face it they really do want to make sure we're not in the same NJ boat again. Keep calm and wait is my thought.
I'm not impatient to see it happen, have no idea how the appointment will pan out if it does happen and not being critical of anyone involved in it. I'm simply suggesting that something, somewhere has gone less swimmingly than all concerned had anticipated at the outset. Clearly I have absolutely no idea what that may be but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the next we hear is that negotiations "failed."
Nobody cared what happened at Saints when we were in the Prem. I'm pretty sure they care even less now. Did anyone here know anything or care about player/manager negotiations of Championship teams last season? This is trivial news that won't make a ripple outside of Southampton or Swansea.
Just post this again next Friday . what’s another week when the squad have no idea who the new manager actually is .
