You're speaking as a middle class, white collar worker. How does a busy council refuse collector that works to rigid hours, fit five days into four? A - it doesn't, the council just hires more people to pick up the fifth day work, and the council taxpayers pick up the tab.
Yeah it’s not necessarily going to work in every role but as with everything it’s not a race to the bottom and it’s a way of making roles more attractive in a tough market. Why can’t refuse collectors do four longer days rather than five shorter ones? Presumably once upon a time many people did six days (some still do). I don’t honestly see the issue in at least trialling these things. If they don’t work then you go back to how it was. If it does work then it’s a great recruitment tool even without the other benefits.
My wife an I Fostered for a few years & I can assure you the children in our care didn't leave with emotional scars & there are many more caring people doing the same
Are you suggesting Labour put forward a proposal in its manifesto that manual workers should increase their daily working hours from 8 to 10?
I think companies should have the option. It shouldn’t be mandatory but it’s a benefit companies can offer where suitable. If the work is so tough it’s impossible to do 10 but you can do 8 then obviously it won’t apply to them.
12 hour shifts are great. Less days spent at work and many more days off. I would hate to work shorter shifts
Exactly. Firemen used to do four days on and four off which I’m sure helped attract people to the profession in the absence of other benefits and relatively **** money.
Why would I be? Russia has the launch codes, makes no difference where they're kept. Putin has been making nuke threats for decades. If he's stupid enough to launch one NATO and China will turn Moscow to dust.
It can be a killer knowing you’ve got 4 x 12 hour night shifts ahead of you but in outlet place they’ve even started to limit it to 3 only. Just got a new roster which is bit all over the place but at certain points it means only take 2 shifts as leave and get 8 days off. Plus another couple of times I get 6 and 7 rest days in a block. I’d recommend it to anyone
What you've shown is that occupations that are compatible with longer shifts, already have them. Try convincing a refuse collector to do a 12 hour shift in 30 degrees C or -5 degrees C in winter.
No we want you in an office from 9-5:30 Monday to Friday. If anyone dies outside of those hours it’s on them.
I’d give them the choice. If it’s 4x10 or 5x8 I’d honestly expect most to pick the four. Maybe I’m wrong. Majority wins. Maybe some of them move to another council offering four longer shifts. Maybe some move to another job entirely.
But isn’t Lukashenko hinting that (he) would use them if Belarus was attacked ? Of course that goes against what Putin has said, however would you believe any of them ?
Who would attack Belarus? It's just more empty threats and posturing. FYI Putin publically admitted Russia blew up the dam. I know people who have issues with Ukraine weren't convinced.
Have you ever had to get near an NFA who hasn’t washed for 9 weeks and needs assistance after overdosing on smack that he’s injected into his groin ? Give me the bins any day
There is a very distinct possibility that if things escalated that Ukraine could attack Belarus or Russia direct. Didn’t hear the Putin thing…have you got any links ?
