FootballDotLondon has done a piece about Ange's immediate plans, which were discussed with Levy at the training ground on Friday

    - Ryan Mason is expected to join his coaching staff
    - Ange met with Levy, head scout Leonardo Gabbanini and Mason to discuss the summer transfer plans
    - The original plan was for a GK to understudy Hugo next season before replacing him for 2023-4, but obviously the plans are now for an immediate successor
    - CBs and AMs have bene mentioned as transfer targets
    - Ange has final say on whether Lenglet or Danjuma become permanent signings (FFS, more Lenglet will he/won't he...)
    - A DoF is still reportedly on the cards

I think he'd be better off as a manager in the lower leagues, to be honest.
Probably better for the club that he remains on the coaching staff, though.

Says a lot that he had to clarify his previous tweet as those using the UKIP colour scheme started yelling about Levy imposing Mason on Ange...

As a side note, would anyone like to guess how many tweets Last Word on Spurs have made out of that one Alasdair Gold article I summed up in six bullet points...?

On the loan front, I'd be more interested in his plans for Kulu.

Fully agree with Mason staying on but I would hope he moves on to be a first team coach/manager in a year or two elsewhere to gain a wider breadth of experience before he even thinks about becoming a first team coach at Spurs.

He's already been a first team coach, Conte promoted him to that role

Also, what's with this idea Mason "has" to get a managerial post elsewhere before thinking of being our manager? Bill Nicholson didn’t do a stint at Leyton Orient, he came through our coaching ranks - and is hardly alone, as Bob Paisley and Matt Busby did likewise in that era, and that’s before considering the various Rangnick prodigies in the modern game

Arteta only had a few years with Guardiola before he took over the Goons. He learnt the the importance of continually refreshing the squad and having a continual and visible route v from academy to first team. Ryan will certainly learn from Ange in that respect. If learns well enough he may well ablebe to make the step up when Ange leves without us having a continuation of the farce that has gone on since Poch departed.

Monchi close to becoming Villa DoF

Exciting appointment that. Making some big moves early on what with the Tielemans addition too. They’ve been restructuring their recruitment team as well since the appointment of Emery.

Hang on, wasn't some former Barca DoF (Mateu Alemany, IIRC) supposed to be taking up the reigns as their DoF?

He used their interest to renegotiate his position at Barca about 3 weeks ago.

Nassef Sawiris has been chucking serious money at them for a few years now.
Trying to sort out the mess that he inherited from the previous owner.

Celtic are in advanced talks with Brendan Rodgers over the possibility of the 50-year-old Northern Irishman returning as manager:

Will be interesting to see how it's received, given the nature of his departure.

It sounds like Rodgers wants John Kennedy to remain at Celtic if he takes over which will mean Ange will likely have to look elsewhere for one of his assistants as Kennedy was someone he wanted to bring with him.

Over the weekend it was suggested Celtic wouldn't be letting him go, so this could explain why

Mike McGrath is saying Chris Davies will be one of Ange's assistants, he was assistant manager to Rodgers at Leicester and had worked in various roles with Rodgers at Swansea, Liverpool and Celtic. Had recently been linked with the Swansea manager job too.

These assistant manager names don’t do anything for me

    is the assistant manager important?

is he just a middle man or does he have actual football knowledge to share?

Do managers appoint their own assistants and do they listen to them?

They just look and act like glorified kit men to me

Getting the right coaches to work with the players on the training ground is vital (and this where I see the assistant plying his trade), the manager should have the vision of 'how' he wants to play, and whilst he will spend sometime implementing this on training field, he will need his assistant and the coaches who share his vision and who can also specialise in particular areas (defence and attack lets say) and who also allow him to take a back seat in some of the training to do other aspects of being the manager.

Come match day you are probably right they put out the cones out and become a sounding board for the boss, but having the right people training the players day in day out is important if Paul Clement is amongst the new team he did have a very good reputation as a coach, but wasn't a great manager.
