Okay I'm aware second help thread today, but looking to get new laptop as birthday is coming up soon, and international weeks are boring as ****..

Seen a HP Pavilion that looks good, but heard they can sometime over-heat easily..

I thought Id ask on here, as the very fact we are on this forum is due to the use of a computer, so some of you must have good knowledge and experience of Laptop's and PC's??

If you want to make a better suggestions feel free, I dont want to spend more then £450. Mainly use it for internet, uni, and some games!

Toshiba ones are good (well I've only ever had one), I've had mine about 4-5 years now and it's never had a problem. It's even survived me spilling a full cup of tea on it and it's been dropped a couple of times. It still works fine though.

I have the exact same one - and I would recommend it. Though like toondes I have only played FM as a game on it but it runs quite a few progams all at the same time really well and quickly

If you don't have a big budget then go for Samsung. In my 4 year experience of buying Samsung, they're reliable, don't tend to overheat and are usually the 'surprisingly good for what I paid' brand.

I've got an acer aspire too, about 2 and a half years old now and starting to slow down but until now it's been brilliant. Used to be able to run a ton of programs on it (pokerstars client, poker tracking software, spotify, google chrome and more) with barely any problems so would recommend it. The 15.6" LED LCD screen is really really clear even from back then so can imagine the newer ones are even better.

EDIT: my gf just got the acer one linked earlier in this thread and although she doesn't use it for gaming she's loving it.

I have an HP Pavillion, which I now have to use as a desktop as it overheats so much I have built it a cooling system.
Good laptop, when its cold, but not worth it IMO
