Wonder if she was stupid enough to get caught doing a recorded show and tell with plans to attack Iran after devoting a lot of time stirring up civil unrest by saying no such recording would exist. Second point, but would be interested to know how many people in those replies are defending Trump today.
People defending politicians in the same tribal way they would their sports teams is the absolute pits. I've tried to tune out of British politics as much as a possible and it's been cathartic for the most part. That honours list today is an absolute disgrace, however.
She didn't lie. The Bidens themselves alerted the FBI of the presence of the documents after their lawyers discovered them, then consented to a full search of the property. Mike Pence did the same. Both were cleared. The legal standard is willful possession or misuse of classified documents, and it's a high bar to clear because you have to prove intent...you have to really try in order to get prosecuted.
The feds gave Trump every possible chance to not get prosecuted. They asked nicely for the classified documents back. He refused. They talked to his lawyers at great length about the fact that he wasn't allowed to have them. He refused. They got a court order forcing him to give them back. Trump's brilliant solution was to give back some of the documents and then lie about having given back all of them, while engaging in a conspiracy (that is well-documented in the indictment) to conceal the rest of the documents, some of which were ultimately found in his desk drawer.
It's why their case is so strong: they gave him an unfathomable number of opportunities to simply give the government back the classified documents, and if he had done so, he would never have been prosecuted. Instead, by lying, evading them, falsely swearing in an affidavit, etc, he himself laid the groundwork for his prosecution by showing the intent to conceal and mislead. They didn't entrap him, he played himself, because he's a giant toddler who believes that everything belongs to him.
That’s fascinating. I actually didn’t realise those details of the Trump case, but it’s the perfectly fitting way for him to back himself into a corner. He is truly the moron’s moron.
It's the real irony: if the feds were out to get him, as Os and others allege, they wouldn't have got him. They might have gotten a judge to sign off on a search warrant in 2021, allowing them to do a big, showy raid and get the documents back...and their case would have fallen apart immediately because they would have zero chance of proving intent. If at any point over an 18 month span he hadn't done the absolute dumbest thing imaginable, none of this happens. But he's Trump, so he somehow managed to do things dumber than the dumbest thing imaginable, like having boxes of classified documents piled on the stage in his ballroom, and in a bathroom (if you look closely, you can see the top of boxes peeking out from behind the shower curtain):

The real question is; who is ACTUALLY running the country while the most powerful nation in the world has a mascot for president.
Yes; I too lost a family member to dementia so I don’t use that as a slur. I mean it seriously. I genuinely feel sorry for him.
Of course it’s the pits to be tribal in politics. But unfortunately that is pretty much how democracy in it’s current form is set up. You have to shout down your opposition whilst simultaneously ignoring most of the country.
And unfortunately you reap what you sow. The mainstream media and government has been pushing extreme left wing agendas for too long and in politics the pendulum always swings back the other way eventually. (If it’s allowed to; without authoritarianism/totalitarianism).
In my opinion we will see a huge rise in GENUINE nationalism and far right views over the next few years. The democrats (and lefties/globalists in the UK & Europe) have been using identity politics as a facade to snake their way into power.
The facade is crumbling & will continue to crumble as they have gone too far. NO ONE believes a man can get pregnant. No one sane believes that gender is a construct. Almost everyone I speak to is feeling the effects of the open border policy of the last decade.
And as much as I am pro-immigration & socially liberal in general, the noticeable decline in living standards will be impossible to ignore in the long term.
I’m sure yet more nationalism will be the perfect solution to the consequences of Brexit, itself birthed by nationalism. Can’t see how it could possibly go badly.
It's fascinating to see the suggestion that it is the left pushing identity politics, at a time when conservatives are having a massive and sustained meltdown over the fact that a large brewery spent 0.01% of its marketing budget (reportedly $10,000 out of an annual spend of $100,000,000) for Bud Light on an ad targeting the trans community. Like, 50% of that budget is explicitly marketing toward guys with unnecessarily large trucks that vote for Trump, but it's that 0.01% that is identity politics.
Hint: spending most of your budget catering to people who favour vehicles with more blindspots than a main battle tank* is still identity politics, it's just the identity politics of a particular group that gets deep in their feelings if anyone else's identity is acknowledged. Personal insecurity is one hell of a political ethos.

Love trading your posts Os, but are you sure the mainstream media have been pushing an "extreme" left-wing agenda? I was undervthe impression that someone of a left-wing persuasión would advocate taking back the privatised utilities into public ownership, investing more in education and health, raising the state pensión and advocating for the provisión of more public housing.
I had come to my own conclusion that the pendulum had swung back in the other direction!
The "nationalist" politics of the likes of Johnson, Trump and Bulsonaro now seem like a bad nightmare people have just woken up from. Granted remains to be seen if the Americans are stupid enough to re-elect Trump but in the UK I strongly feel there is no way back for Johnson. His style of politics is being discredited and I feel that Sunak is probably starting the process of rehabilitating the Conservatives into a more sensible political party. The fact that more extreme members of the Conservatives feel threatened and are starting to being marginalised is a good thing. The likes of Rees-Mogg, Liz Truss and Priti Patel have been a disgrace to British politics. I do think that Boris has not yet hit the bottom and will be made to be a scapegoat for his parties failinings. When the realisation that Brexit can never be a success hits home, Johnson will have been discredited on two fronts. I do not think that the public at large has quite accepted that Brexit will never work and we have a while to go before we see a sea change.
With the Covid enquiry still to come, I strongly believe that Johnson will end up facing criminal charges. There will also be less serious consequences of the Partgate scandal and I can see him being barred from standing from Parliament within the next two years. As things get difficult for him, I would expect those who have stood by him to disassociate themselves from Johnson. Ultimately, the UK voting public will have been sick of the more tribal politics engendered by the likes of the ERG and I can see the next Conservative leader being a vanilla politician such as David Camercon, There will be a cleansing process within the Conservatives in the next five years and I just do not see any situation whereby politicians with the kind of reactionary approach of a Johnson, Truss or Prital can fit in .If Johnson ends up facing criminal charges for his handling of Covid , there will be a guilt by association thing going on which I think will taint many current Conservate poltiicians.
I am not too sure that the bland Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer (who stands for nothing) will be elected the next PM quite as easily as people imagine but I do think he will usher in an era where the personality element that makes politicians popular will have diminished. I can see both parties moving towards the centre in the near future as opposed to the domination of the Right Wing extremists we have endured since 2019. The immediate future will be dominated by less colourful politicians.
As far as the gender indentity issue is concerned, I get very annoyed that this keeps on being brought up as an issue which defines the Left and the Right. Given that we are in the midst of a warin Uckraine, a cost of living crisis, an immigration crisis and an environmental crisis, this is small potatoes and not really worthy of the kind of debate the media is having. There are far more important things to be concerned about than an issue that concerns less than 1% of the population. I grant you that the BBC media coverage does not really help given that this features articles of this nature almost daily on their website yet it is effectively a side issue at a time. I do feel that there is an issue with impartiality within the media but it is more of a Right wing issue from outlines like the Daily Express, Daily Mail and GB News which are peddling falsehoods and where the editorial standard is shockingly low that needs to be addressed.
