Good Morning. It's Tuesday 6th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    49ers takeover expected this week

49ers Enterprises are reported to be in the final throes of completing the takeover of Leeds Utd, following extensive talks yesterday.

Various media reports, including the Mail, are suggesting that an agreement is now in place for the California based investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers, to purchase Andrea Radrizzani's 56% controlling interest, in a deal worth £170m

Radrizzani's options have been limited since Leeds were relegated last month. He doesn't have the financial clout to be able to compete with the big boys, and has taken the club as far as he can. He'll be kicking himself that he didn't sell the club this time last year, where he would have earned three times as much as what he'll be earning from the present deal.

Ayling pledges undivided attention on helping Leeds win promotion

Luke Ayling had pledged his undivided attention on helping Leeds win promotion back to the top flight. The soon to be 32yo, a £200,000 buy from Bristol City seven years ago, is closing in on 250 appearances for the Whites, during which time, has become a fans favourite.

His heart maybe in the right place, but his pace has suffered over the years. Last season, he showed all the anaerobic acceleration of a snail (with a limp). The amount of times he was skinned, made it difficult to watch. The quality in the Championship may not be on par with the top flight, and there's a lot to be said for experience, but he's only going to get slower as he gets older. According to Ayling:-

“We let this club down. Too the fans, I am sorry we couldn’t keep you in the Premier League. All my attention now is to make sure we bounce back straight away. “When we got promoted last time we did it without being able to celebrate with our great fans and now that’s what I look forward to and dream of doing.”

Gerrard the perfect man for the job

Former Scotland and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton believes Steven Gerrard is the perfect man for job at Elland Road! Speaking to Football Insider, Gerrard can handle the pressure that managing a huge club like Leeds brings. After a successful spell at Rangers, it all suddenly went wrong at Villa Park, and the 43yo was relieved of his duties last October, after 11 months in charge.

"I think he will feel that he is more than capable of doing that. Do I think he can? "Of course. This is a guy that now has a little bit of experience, has been at a big club with the pressure and everything that comes with it."

“Aston Villa are a massive football club, that did not quite work out. Leeds are a huge football team and you would like to think that if they can hold on to most of their players they will have an opportunity to come back up. “It is relentless down there so it will be difficult but it is probably something he will feel he can go and do so I am sure he is hungry to get back in.“

Morning all. Shows all Hutton knows about Leeds. "would like to think that if they can hold on to most of their players they will have an opportunity to come back up". We need rid of most of them, they're the main reason we were relegated. I wonder did Hutton either watch a Leeds game or a Villa one when Gerard was in charge. Seemed to be a bit of momentum last night in press reporting buy out agreed alright. Hopefully they're on the mark

Gerrard has never got a team promoted, no experience in the Championship, was shyte in the prem, sacked in the prem as he watched Villa get into relegation zone. Gerrard replacement takes Villa into Europe with the same squad but dropping Gerrard bought players. So basically not for me, it would be a massive gamble and we have just lost one big gamble

    Morning all

If the 49ers do come in and have a handy package to hand a new coach then just maybe we have a chance of attracting a Potter or Rodger’s.

Doc this isn’t personal but the two continental coaches we were after when Jesse got the sack, no English football experience, no championship experience and never got a team promoted but you were fine with those.

It’s a gamble whoever we get, if Potter and Rodgers say no, then who do we turn to. Are we assuming there is a large queue forming. Scott Parker won two promotions loads of Championship experience and he too was dismissed.

I hope we can get better than Gerrard but I also know we can certainly do worse.

Ayling - Handy guy to have around and add depth but I’d hope not a starter.

Regarding our current squad, had Sinisterra and Adams remained fit and had we brought Gyokeres instead of Rutter would we have got relegated. Some bad decisions and unfortunate signings last season including McKennie

With a new DOF and with Radz gone and new decision makers who’s to say we haven’t got the backbone of a Championship winning side. Same as with the coach, Bielsa great in the Championship but not in the PL, who’s to say Gerrard won’t succeed at this level.

I’d like a better coach but we need to be realistic, we are only going to attract a coach who needs to rebuild his career.

I guess any appointment is something of a risk but what I would say is that the new owners (as it’s being reported that the deal is done) need to read the room. Employing Gerard will divide the fan base so far better to start with everyone behind the new management team and the ownership. That said, I have no idea who wants it.

He's managed Rangers and Villa. Where would he get them promoted too?

    Morning all.

The completion of the 49ers takeover can only be good news and hopefully it's 100% ownership and not just flip flopping who's majority shareholder.

The question I suppose is what are their intentions for us. Is it to build a side competitive enough to win promotion and then sell to yet another new owner, or do they see themselves in it for the long haul with stadium redevelopment etc and then trying to compete at the top end of the PL ?

Don’t know but if they had an agreement to pay £400-500 million and are now paying £150-170 million then hopefully the money saved can bring in a good coach and some decent signings <ok>

Wrexham beat the World Champions US Women's team 12-0 recently in a special 7-a-side 40 minute tournament.

Veteran striker Lee Trundle 46, came out of retirement and scored 4.

Morning everyone if rads is selling then he needs to hurry up and feck off. The guy did not even have the decency to turn up for abuse v spurs. There is a way to attract a decent coach and that is pay big wages. Paying the coach the top wage in the champipnship with a huge bonus will attract almost anyone.

Saw England v Australia women and the England goalie was dire. An experience i will not be repeating. Like the mens team it's all hype and not a chance of winning the world cup.

The figures quoted are pure speculation and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to see Radz retaining around 20%. Radz's strategy all along has been to continue selling shares and this is likely a continuation of that.

The big difference will be the onus shifting onto the 49ers which is a smart move by Radrizanni as it seems he's coaxed them in from a small 10% investment a few years ago to taking a majority shareholding when the asset is pretty weak and the risk is considerable. The financial obligations of players on long term PL contracts (even with wage reductions) shouldn't be underestimated as we've seen before in our history.

Think we are stuck with Bamford and his stupidly long contract. If he left i would be amazed and leeds would have to pay him off.

I have heard Bamford has already started his pre season physio. He expects to be half fit by January.

    Morning all

Great Radz is out but give it a couple of years and you'll be calling for the 49ers to be gone. Yanks owning British clubs is ****ing horrendous. Look at Scum, Chelsea, Arsenal, Villa. We'll soon find out that the club will be funding 49ers ad we'll have a load of **** managers that will last a couple of years.

I could be wrong but I'm going off what I've seen in the past.
