Aaronson was earmarked for Bielsa so can’t blame Marsch for that, but Kristensen, Roca, Adams, McKennie, Wober we’re all Marsch players. Gnonto he knew nothing about so that was Orta and lets not forget that these players who all knew Marsch didn’t have a scooby as to what Marsch was doing?
Which backs up the comment that the players weren’t clever enough to learn what any coach would try to teach them, even crap poor coaches. With a success rate in appointing managers of about one in six so far, we simply cannot afford another mistake
True, but Bielsa actually want Connor Gallagher who opted for Palace, Aaronson was meant to be a similar replacement, so likely an Orta pick.
I don’t buy into the clever enough argument, it’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. Might not have the skill maybe but you can go through all the top teams and the majority of the players come over as a bit thick. You’re not going to get a much more intelligent player than Bamford so I rest my case
Good coaches get their message across though Eire. The ex player was probably just exasperated like the rest of us
I direct a fair few of my comments at you Jammy, purely for the Bantz and because I expect a reasonably intelligent response. This comment wasn’t directed at you although you referenced hassenhutl- it was at the countless red bull doesn’t work in the Prem comments we heard and the regular debates about the weaknesses of marsch ball. I’m genuinely surprised people would welcome hassenhutl marschball was obviously vulnerable to the counter all systems have weaknesses… how many goals did we concede like that though? Not as many as reported - and a very large proportion of any sides goals are conceded in transition. What seemed to go unnoticed to many was he had tightened us up at the back over the new year period, we conceded very few chances in his last 4 games. We still contrived to lose 2 of them. Coaches don’t control results only performances. All coaches know that… Bielsa referenced whether the result was fair in his post match pressers. I rabbit on about xg because (to an extent) that’s what it measures.
There’s that too Jammy but in fairness Gilesy is one of the most respected pundits ever on Irish tv. Covered world cups etc for probably thirty years and he doesn’t do throw away comments
Most of our players are either full internationals or have representative honours through the age groups so I'm not convinced by the exact nature of the comment personally and I'd say it was more a case of trying to convey the message that the best coach in the world would struggle to get a tune out of our lot at that time. Doesn't really matter now as the Championship is a whole different ball game.
Well one ex player did once say they have to dumb it down a bit when they go over the water Not mentioning any names but a former England international right back.
Why did he bother. Have you lot not got enough gigs to keep him going. Bad enough we’ve to go over almost monthly now to prop up your economy. And god knows where you’d be without shaks donations
Exciting and emotional last day over in Spain. Real Valladolid thought they were safe but Almeria kept fighting back at Espanol finally getting an equaliser in the 88th minute to make it 3-3 and send Valladolid down on 40 points. Also Celta Vigo beat Barcelona to move from 17th to 13th in the final table.
