We’ll those upgrades certainly haven’t done the Mercs any harm. Looking quite fighty. Can Ham make any progress against Sainz?
If they keep this up looks like a 2-3 for Mercedes as they have the pace over Ferrari and Aston Martin. Not bad for a first proper race with their new upgrades. Surprised at how poor a race Fernando is having though.
extremely dull race. 1. perfect race for verstappen, p1,p2,p3,q1,q2,q3, race. simply waited for all to pit then took hards and went slowly. 2. all passing is Drs. is very much easy meat. 3. mildly interesting to see Mercedes run well but others are ****. mclaren joke, ferrari joke. 4. Russell claiming rain then admitting its sweat inside visor. Croft is convinced it will rain though now. idiot. look out the bloody window. really it's just watching cars with no chance to defend being passed under drs and Russel boasting about it even. yawn
depends what lap perez catches on to sail by at turn 1. it doesn't look enough for me. he ****ed it an hour ago behind alonso for 6 or 7 laps.
The gap has stabilised in the last few laps, but he has been waiting to push. Now we’ll see when he starts to push.
Felt a bit like an early 2010s race. Lots of pitstops, overtaking a bit too easy and Red Bull win by miles. Promising for the circuit at least that they might have to shorten DRS here next year
Merc upgrades looking good, hopefully it’s track specific and Aston and Ferrari are still competitive with them in coming races. Having said that you’d expect Canada to be bad for the Aston’s. False dawn from McLaren yesterday it seems
DRS is just killing F1 for me. It's gotta go. If these new regs aren't fully working as intended enough, keep tweaking them! But please, watching these DRS overtakes is just dull. I miss the art of defending.
Most races this year it's been pretty hard to overtake (for everyone except Max). I think this one was a bit of an outlier because they weren't sure how much removing the chicane would help overtaking and made the DRS zone too long. I really doubt they'll ever come up with regs so good that we don't need some kind of overtaking aid.
I just don't like it, never have.. I'd rather watch them struggling to pass rather than having a sitting duck with no way to defend. If there was a limit on how often you could use it, and you could choose to use that time in either defense or attack, it would be improved imo.
the change of that last corner made a massive difference to the track, but the rest of it is a no pass borefest. the extra speed round that final corner made this a red bull or any highest speed trap car festival. Ferrari could do nothing. 2nd on grid yes but too much drag Aston the same, less power merca were solid there. tyre wear was very very good.
