He’ll probably go for half what we paid for him knowing us. Would be nice to see some early busy going on, all very quiet so I’d imagine the club is waiting for Les to come back from his holiday.
It dos'nt look like that we're going to much money for either of them. Grand total most probably £6.million.
Wouldn't be surprised if Millwall try another bid for Dykes, probably less than they offered in January...
Saw the same here; https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/e...s-target-after-failing-to-agree-new-contract/ Could we build into future managers' contracts that they can't sign any of our players for at least two years if they choose to leave us for another club. So annoying.
https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-ready-to-sell-dickie-and-others-could-go-too I trust WLS - so looks like Dickie, Dieng and Dykes could be off. Funny how quickly things change but I won't be sad if we can get some cash for the three of them and replace them with hungrier players. We'll miss Dykes the most imo, and they're all decent, but they have to want to play for us. https://www-qpr-co-uk.cdn.ampprojec....uk/news/under-21s-news/new-contracts-020623/ Very pleased Pedder has signed a new deal - he's the one I can see breaking into the first team next year. If we can get money from the sales above (+ a Willock sale) and some more cash for Eze's England appearance, we may have a little more (and I mean a little) financial wiggle room than I'd feared. We really need to nail the signings though, as ever. Hard to believe we'll do that given the track record.
It's a worry that so many players aren't happy with Ainsworth's style. That said the Rob Dickie of last season would hardly be a miss. I really don't want us to turn into a neanderthal side but that seems what we're heading for.
Not sure this says that many people are UNHAPPY with Ainsworth style.... they and we think it's time for them to leave. Them to try and get into a better team...us to get money. They may believe, like us the fans do that we are not promoted this year...but after 2 years of trying and failing...we all think this is a reset season. This is not an anti Ainsworth action...more a general reset
Wait till the the season starts & see how we play, he said he had to play like that to get results & points which he did & worked , I can’t see us playing like that again well maybe a few games hence Burnley result
I have to agree with that. Got to give him a chance to prove some of us wrong. Personally, I can't take Ainsworth seriously. In his tight jeans, leather jacket and boots, he's wide open to ridicule! His tactics are nothing short of amateur stuff. Having said that, let's see if he can walk the walk. He won't be helped by the sale of our better players, the likes of Dieng, Dykes and Chair.
I agree with Jeff's post too, but "seriously" I have no idea why Gareth's appearance will have any impact at all on how we do or don't do. I also doubt that Ainsworth and Dobson's tactics are "amateur stuff" after Managing a League side for 10 years with some success. Their tactics against Burnkey and Stoke weren't pretty but they kept us up. I hope they have us playing a varied style of football next season as apart from the entertainment value playing like in those 2 games all the time won't keep us up.
I just find it difficult to take him seriously on the touchline. From what we have witnessed, the tactics really have been amateur, at best. Get the ball and turn it back to front as soon as possible. Doesn't get any more amateur than that, no matter how you dress it up. You can see that in a Sunday league match all over the country. I will definitely be giving him the benefit of my doubt, I just fear for him regarding players sold and our recruitment system.
Agree Bob. Selling your better players is one thing (I get we need to) but, more worryingly, our recruitment is nothing to write home about. We definitely aren’t any Brentford in that regard - which we were supposed to be around the time post the sale of Eze if you believed the hype. It will be what it will be. But it is definitely a huge concern. Get it wrong and we will be facing our relegation fears once more. Over to you Mr DoF!!
His tactics may look basic, but I also struggle to get excited about 80% possession all played in our own half and keepers kicking it backwards from goal kicks. I just want to see us win, I given up caring how!
That's my point about Luton. They play basic get-it-forward-quickly football with a emphasis on speed and strength, but they're now in the Premier League. If Ainsworth achieved that with a similar style, how many would complain?
I’ll answer that question when he’s achieved it. It wasn’t good enough to keep Wycombe in the Championship under him. Do you think Ainsworth is good enough to get this squad promoted to the PL?
No. It was more a question about whether people would accept a **** style of play if it was successful.
Fair enough. Yes, if it’s successful, great. Although it’s clearly not a sustainable way of playing. I see Brentford have been accused of being a route one/set piece team - not from what I’ve seen, but if that’s what it looks like I’ll have some (Frank very pissed off about it). How many of the 24 championship teams play this way? I really don’t know.
