I see they are due back on 19th June . Guess it’s so the new manager can get a good look at them . https://www.watfordfc.com/news/key-dates-watfords-202324-campaign And the players can decide if they like him or not . No doubt he will be being watched
Wow - we won a European trophy... https://www.watfordfc.com/news/academy-under-15s-win-youth-tournament-in-france
It’s FA cup final day . Jimmy was on our side in 1984. How come an ex Liverpool player was supporting Everton ?! They’d be crucified if it happened now?!
Cup Final day was always the last game of the season at 3.00 pm until Sky got it's hands-on it. Before then, TV coverage could start before you had even got out of bed if you had a good Friday night out. At midday you realized there was still another three hours to wait, and it was obvious that the latest person interviewed was there for a meal, and knew nothing about football. I miss the days when clubs had an unlimited number of replays in the earlier rounds, and a draw on a Saturday meant a replay on the following Tuesday or Wednesday. I suppose a domestic competition has to take second place to European or World football, but while clubs are bankrolled by TV, there is no chance of our Cup Final being as important an event in the sporting calendar as it once was.
Yes, when I was at uni in the seventies it was down to the TV room at 7.30 am to gt a good seat at the front and stay there until kick off except for loo and food breaks. Used to pray for no extra time as the bum was getting a bit stiff by 4.45pm.
You wouldn't even be that surprised if Man City didn't field their strongest side with the Champions league final next week.. But they'll probably still win.
I'm not sure that Sky are entirely to blame though - the final being screened by BBC and ITV. Puzzlingly, the Scottish cup final is being screened by the BBC at 5:30pm - presumably under the mistaken impression that all football fans here would rather be able to watch both.
It used to be party time at my house in my late teens and early-mid 20s. A gaggle of various fans: Swindon, Oxford, Reading, Cardiff, Portsmouth, and, of course Watford. It's a Knockout, celebrity fan interviews, hotel to Wembley, the cheesy choons, an awful lot of beer, sarnies, crisps, peanuts, consumed. Usually between 8 The Coventry City win was probably the most enjoyable, especially as there was no split in support! Didn't do it in 1984 for some reason.
Yes I believe they had to change the kick-off time for such a reason - presumably they would have had a lunchtime kick-off had it been the 2 Old Firm teams. Let's hope one day we have to worry about such things again eh!? Might be some time...
A protest at the training ground on a Thursday evening when no-one will be there? Good luck trying to get anywhere close to the buildings as all the gates will be shut and locked up. Suppose standing out side might do something.... Wake the security up for example.
Asprilla on his way back from the U20 World Cup after Colombia lost 1-3 against Italy. In a bit of a surprise, Brazil are on their way home too after losing 2-3 against Israel.
Yes - shame for Asprilla. We have been linked with one of the Italian guys on loan from Chelsea (Casadei) but he has been the best player for them so probably unlikely to come now.
The "true Golden boy" being Britt Assombalonga. This bit caught my eye - "he re-signed terms at Vicarage Road on an initial short-term contract" I wonder if that's implying that he'll be offered another contract? https://www.watfordfc.com/news/trus...a-trust-treasure-who-became-a-true-golden-boy
Two of Watford’s Under-18 players have been selected for the upcoming England squad that will take part in the International Tournament of Lisbon. Forward Adrian Blake and goalkeeper Jonathan Macaulay have been named by head coach Neil Ryan in his 23-man squad for the four-team event which starts on June 9.
Is Ben Foster involved in this ? Dean Whitehead coming in as coach - worked with Ismael before . Remember he played for Sunderland and Stoke in the PL so probably knows a thing or two about hard work and being strong .
G Fans forum in June ( not set up by the club) One of the supporters groups /podcast has done all the work and been balloting already .
