We have been royally ducked in recent years despite having Kane. Might as well face the situation head-on. Other teams have been better than us despite not having Kane in their teams.

One could argue that we have won more without Kane than with Kane.

Spurs will be fine. We have lost many other excellent footballers and managed without them. I would argue losing Modric and Dembelec were more significant than losing Kane at this stage in his career.

I suspect the focus over the years has been on Kane - to the detriment of the team.

Get Ange in and get Ferguson from Brighton in!

That’s because other teams are simply better than us.

Take Kane out and we’re not better than West Ham.

When we lost Modric we had a good footballing vision and philosophy back then along with a plan on how to replace players that fitted into said philosophy, we actually replaced Modric with Dembele.

Right now we have no plan, vision or anything and to simply lose a 30 goal a season striker when we don’t have enough goals elsewhere is literally footballing suicide.

Ferguson has just signed a new contract at Brighton, no chance he leaves this summer.

But Ange would have a plan for replacing Kane. I don’t think we need to focus too much on finding someone to score 30 goals. Having someone score 20 goals would be sufficient providing we vastly improve our defence. A new striker, Son and Kule (if we keep him) are capable of scoring regularly. The odd goals from the rest of the team would help too.

Didn’t know Ferguson signed a new contract. That’s a shame!

Keep Kane for sure, he wants Shearers record more than he wants to win a cup. Where is the bigger legacy in beating Shearers record with Spurs or a possible league or FA cup win with Man U (they are not winning the league even with him in the side). Get the right manager and go big in the cups with no Europe and if we were to win one he stays problem solved.

Thats unless he gives up on Shearers record for now and heads to Real on a 2 year deal after which he can return to Spurs and have a crack at the record in his twilight years.

Why can't he beat Shearers record at Man Utd?

He obviously can, but do Utd guarantee a trophy? Which apparently is why he 'should' move, my point was more that if he beat Shearers record with goals scored only for Spurs then that record is likely to mean more to him and create a bigger legacy than beating it with Utd whilst possibly winning a cup.

Oshimen and Vlahovic are the two to watch out for this summer. Where they end up will have a direct impact on Kane’s future. If United sign a long term striker for big money then Kane ain’t going there even on a free if he wants the playing time to get the PL record and head off into the distance.

I struggle to see why Benzema would leave Madrid this summer to go to the Saudi league but I’ve never been offered that kind of payday <laugh> I still think even if he goes, Kane is unlikely to end up there this summer. He doesn’t seem to want the international move and Madrid will try for Mbappe or Haaland next summer.

I think United will try hard for Kane this summer but if we rebuff them for long enough they’ll have to look elsewhere. The big threat comes from Poch’s Chelsea. Levy will never sell to them but I could see Kane ending up there on a free, though he knows the bridges that would burn. He may not care by then though, or maybe Poch will want a younger man by next year. Maybe he’ll already have a solution by then. Who knows.

I guess what I’m thinking is that the field isn’t as open for Kane, particularly in the PL, as you might think. He’s one of the best strikers in the world but at the age he’s at he’s a 2/3 year solution for most teams not a 5+year player, and his resale value would be minimal. To get him this summer would require the kind of investment that you’d usually expect to provide a longer-term solution that you could make some money back on.

I’d be quite surprised if he goes anywhere this summer. His big window was City pre-Haaland, in terms of a move that guarantees him a trophy, specifically a league title, in the PL.

Football BSider have decided we're looking at Robin Koch

Methinks this is them putting two and two together as we were linked with him before he joined Leeds

Also, seriously, can La Liga and Serie A finish up so I can get Vulture Watch up and running please...?

they had this conversation on the radio a while back

what would give you legendary status?

the PL goal scoring record or a PL title?

the argument was that lots of players win the PL every season…but you hold that record on your own and you are remembered through the ages

    got to agree

At Kane speed, he is about 3 seasons max from
    Sheaters' PL scoring record.

So where to go to achieve the above and also
get some domesticl/UEFA winners medals on the CV ??

Man Utd are probably off the list due to their previous,
so IMHO that leaves the Poool, or the Toon (who are
in the starting phases of Sugga Daddy FC) .

If either of those put the cash down, under Levy 'rules'
    then let Kane go.

Gil was in the starting XI for the EL final, and
Sevilla won it (so they are in the CL next season) .

As I said a few days ago, Gil is probably gone now
(unless Levy is does his classic on the T+Cs) .

I agree his chance to win the title probably came and went when City moved on to Haaland. He would certainly make United a much better side but they are still a good few years away from genuinely challenging even with him.

I guess what it boils down to is either way he'll break the record whether it's with us or United, but with the latter he has a much stronger chance of regular silverware in the domestic cups especially. If (and it's a big if) they beat City in the FAC, that might tip the balance. Why would he say no to breaking the record with the added bonus of 3-4 winners medals by the time he's done it?

    Wouldn’t surprise me.

Pay £25m plus Lamela for Gil.
Loan Gil back after 18 months.
    Wins Europa League.
Sevilla sign him for considerably less than we paid.

    Levynomics nowadays.
